I am planning to buy a corvette for no higher than 4500 dollars. the cars that i see are the high 70's through 80's car years. I am planning to work on it and spend about 10,000 on it when i sell my other car. Dont say buy a newer one because i dont have the money to buy one. lol But i am looking to get a corvette that i can get alot of horsepower out of. would it matter what year i get? For instance. I am thinking of getting this engine in the car in the near future: Chevy 408 Stroker_Stroker Engines_Crate Motors_Stroker Kits_NC Custom Stroker Engines-TandLEngine Development Stanfield, NC
If i get this engine what kind of corvette can handle it. or can any of them not. Please have a professional opinion on this. I am in jacksonville fl. So far my eye is on an 87 corvette to work on.
Or should i get a 90's corvette with over 150,000 miles on it and work on it from there?

look at the los angeles craigslist....you will see 84 85 models from as low as 2500 bucks...a good investment for the changes you have in mind...this will give you an idea of the market

Welcome onto the boards there!

Modded vettes are difficult to diagnose when there's a problem, unless a REAL pro has written and burned a chip for the WHOLE project.

And that is gonna' cost a shiny ('S' stands for 'shiny' too yup)

how about if you start with an LT1 and put a stroker short block and a minor cam change and perhaps some 1.8 rockers..then a larger TB..wouldnt all that run just fine on a stock wiring configuration.?
and go go without reprogramming stink...;shrug
