I assume that I want the Zaino Z-3 (for regular paint) on my '95. The finish doesn't look like a clearcoat finish, but I thought I would ask before I buy, as the stuff is expensive!

Thanks, Bob

I would think a 95 would have a base/clearcoat. If so, you'll want atleast Z2 and Z5. It all depends on the condition of your paint. If it's in good shape, that will cover it.

Well, that's the whole point of the question. I am no expert, but the paint does NOT look like clearcoat to me. It's in great shape (see photo above) - beautiful, really - but doesn't have that clearcoat look.

Anybody know for sure?

Thanks anyhow, Bob

My '84 came clearcoated over a thin white color coat, which is how most cars are painted today. Unless your car has been redone, I'd be virtually certain that it is clearcoated.

I decided to get it from the horse's mouth, and emailed Zaino tech support. I got a very quick reply from Sal Zaino that the vette is in fact clearcoated. He also included a whole pile of tips and directions. Very pleasing experience!

Sal is a GREAT guy to deal with. He answered lots of questions back when I first tried it.

I'm wetsanding, buffing, and eventually will be Zaino'ing my Vette this weekend. I'll post pix of it when it's all done.
