Whirling at start up

My 2001 C-5 coupe has a whirling sound coming from the engine at start up until it is warmed up. Then the sound gradually goes away. Is this normal? Is it a fan belt issue? Does it have something to do with the throttle body? (I read that on a previous Corvette forum)

Also: My #2 memory button light does not blink when I set all my functions to memory. All the functions are set when I push the button, it is just that the light does not light up. Is this an easy fix for the dealer or do they have to tear the door apart? It looks like you can remove the pod cover to replace it. Can you do it that way since it looks easier? Lyn:eyerole

Hi there,
The sound you may be hearing may be the air injection pump. Does the sound eminate from under the left front headlamp area???
As for the switch, does your memory set, or are you not getting anything set either???????

Mine makes the same sound, from the left side, kinda like a dentist drill.
It is the air induction pump.

Thanks for the reply, guess it must be the pump.... Lyn
