I have heard good & bad from some who have tried touch up in a bottle paints for their 40th Ruby cars -

What are your experiences??

- FWIW, I bought a little bottle of ruby, from the vendor at Corvettes at Carlisle - the one who sells under the grandstands, "indoors" near the restroom end of the structure. I put it into my wifes handbag, never to be seen again... :ugh

Touch-up paint from MidAm is not metallic, whick is OK for repairing small stone chips. A better source for repairing stone chips is: http://www.langka.com/

I thought that was some sort of process...

So they supply paint as well??

Thanks for the link! :m

The paint comes with the kit. Super easy to use. You could actually pour the paint on a large ink pad, have your cat step on the pad, and then walk all over the hood. Wait the directed time, and remove the excess paint with the Langka product, and you will achieve professional results in a few minutes.

Decent - and you say the paint is exact???? :m

I just talked to Langka products there kit does not come with paint.he said it never has.he said if you caint find your touch up paint at the dealer they might be able to mix some up for me for $20 more.

Yep.... as 'exact' as you can expect. If you scan your ruby carefully, you will see a variety of shades of ruby on the various panels. I am very pleased with the Langka results.

Oops.... I guess I used paint from MidAmerica.

Hmm.... :ugh

O.K., I'll bite... Did you still use the Langka product with that???

I purchased some ruby red paint and clear from this place... http://www.paintscratch.com/

I can't say for sure it is a good match beacuse I have never needed to use it (KNOCK ON WOOD) but it is guaranteed to match and they have alot of positive comments on their site. Ruby paint is difficult to match perfectly so if your looking for touch-up buy it from someone that guarantees it.

I have used the touch up paint from Mid America which seems to do okay.... one thing a guy who restores vettes told me to do was to shake the paint very very very well.... the color will match better.....

This may seem stupid, but I have used nail polish, in the best possible color I could find, and it really works like magic. It's almost like using a pencil and the tiny nicks disappear. Nail polish seems to be very liquidy which makes it flow very easy, as compared to touch up paint which seems 'sticky'. It's up to you, but for a dollar, test it out. (it's not so much the money, its the ease of use)
