Ok guys.. time to clean up the garage.

Getting ready to unload stuff to make room for the new baby ( 64 Vert ).

So in my 327 engine project.. I also recieved a B&M built turbo 400... I have the converter/ flex plate/ a floor shifter ( ricky racer) with cable.

It is all believed to be in working condition.. but has been sitting a while.

So I offer ALL this for FREE to any CAC member in need...

No I wont ship.. you gotta come get it.

Any takers?

Vig,

I wish it were a 700R4 . . . I would be there this weekend!!!!!

Nope

Not yet.

Wow. It's worth the drive or paying for a pickup from a freight line

But I already have one - I'm with RPound unfortunately.

Having just worked the entire four-day weekend on OT, I'm about half way to the 700R from BT OD. I still wish I could go the GV OD, but $2500ish is much further than $1500ish for the whole kit. (I'm sure installation is about the same on either.)

RPounds, are you wedded to a 700R? The only reason I got my monster was to have a home for a monster big block in the over 600 cube range I want to build. Because of that I spent most of $5,000 on a 12 Bolt IRS from Tom's Differentials and had intended on going with a single or double Gear Vendors unit behind my T400. The switch to the 3.73's are eating my baby current engine though, so I need something right now and am settling (for the next 18-24 months) on the Stage II or Stage III 700R, hoping it will be enough to take even the abuse of a much driven, soon to be built up 350 (or 377?) (which is following.)

Other than the nifty super low 1st gear though, I'm not happy with not having 1200 ft-lbs + power handling and a gear splitter.

At least in my case I intend to transplant the entire current drivetrain to the Blazer when I get the
MONSTER MILL built in 2098, as a 400-450 hp small block with a high-end 700R should be enough for it.

Just a thought...

Vig, let us know if absolutely no one wants your T400. I would love to put THAT in my Blazer NOW. I can start driving it in under ten months and all it needs is some electrical junk and interior stuff - and some heads.

I'm not swimming in cash or credit at the moment, needing to finish paying for my OD, $1500-2750 in SB upgrades, $1250 for A/C and misc. "extras," owing $2200 for five NFA goodies and transfer taxes and another $1500 for a Shrike, but if no one else wants it I could pay for it to be picked up by a freightline.

I have thought about the gear vendors unit. Anyone know much about these or have some experience with them? How difficult is a do it yourself installation in terms of modifications, etc.? I know the drive shaft will need to be shortened, which isn't a big deal. What about other mods?

I am going to part out my 84 trans am, it has a nice 700r4 in it, it was rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago and shifts fine, was going to put it in my 82 trans am but I decided to buy a 5 speed for it, this one is about 2 hours from you and still in the car

Still no takers....

Anybody?

Thanks for the offer topless. I have been thinking about this for a while and have decided that I am going to retain the original TH400. I'm running 3.08 gearing and most of my miles are around town. The engine is built and cammed for the higher gear ratios of the 400's first gear and the 3.08's. I would probably feel differently if I were running shorter rear gears - something in the mid 3' or high 4's. As it is, my RPM's are not terrible at freeway speeds, of which I do little driving. The engine has plenty of low end torque to smoke 'em up when desired, so the lower first gear doesn't thrill me all that much.

Anyhow, thank you for the offer.

Ron
