Why are TT engines painted black?

Sorry guys I've gone "post mad" today!

I've often wondered why are engines are so black as opposed to the regular TPi 350 which seems to be mainly silver. Would it be of benefit to polish a lot of the aluminium components?

Mind you my engine bay never seems as hot as the engine bay in my old V12 XJS - when I used to open the hood after a drive (to check if anything's fallen off or broken down!) the resulting escape of hot air would nearly take your skin off!

I think it was for looks. Let me know if you want some high polished aftermarket TPI bits.
