The sidetubes are off because Z28Canuck, Fuelie and I are fabricating a set of inserts that weigh less than 1/2 of what the Hooker inserts weigh, and flow much better.
Other designs use 9 spirals per side. We decided to go with 7. Every ounce counts.
The inserts are done, but we have to drill some mounting holes in the empty tubes......maybe we'll get time to drill them tonight.
I've got over 160 miles on the car now, and can report that very few people would actually want a car like this.
Aside from the noise level (the radio is useless), there is no isolation from road feel........absolutely none! That is not a negative point to me....but to most people it would be. The Vette Brakes Performance Plus suspension feels very responsive and controllable. More spirited driving is required to finalize my opinion.
It will be very warm in the cockpit during July and August. Also, without power steering, it is very hard to turn those large front tires until it gets moving.
Frankly, I wouldn't want this car for a daily driver.
BUT, and that's a very big but, the car is everything I designed it to be. It's as close as possible to the racer days of old while being just civilized enough to live on the streets. And then there's that moment when you squeeze hard on the loud pedal.
C'mon Bowling Green.
