Every time i start looking at newer corvettes..everyone i see tells me what a cool car I have,.???
I say..aw shucks..its just an 18 year old chevrolet..
and they say how good it looks or how cool it is..
then i feel guilty...
i know they dont see all the parking lot dings or stains in the paint..they dont see the chin spoiler scrubbed ragged by all the dips in Los angeles...they dont see the little stains in the carpet or the dash pieces not just right....
but i still feel guilty about thinking about tradeing up.....
WHY .???
:Steer

because you love your car lol

Question is........why trade up??? The amount you would get for trade in doesn't really justify a trade up..... If you can afford a newer model then just go get one and keep your c4.

My goal is to have a Z06 in my garage in two years. Whether that be a C5 or C6, we shall see. I'm gonna keep my 86, but probably sell one of my firebirds. The thought of having two corvettes in the garage is very exciting.

There is a part of me though that wants an older car 70-71 BB coupe. I really need to win the lottery!!

Why???

Because the C4 is the last of the true Corvette race cars! Im not saying the newer C5s and C6s are not nice becasue they are, but they are less raw. The C4 has a cockpit not a drivers seat. The new interiors are just ok because they are like every other sports car out there. Our interior is just amazing. Try to name a car with the interior we have? The engines may not produce the same HP as the newer Vettes, but they are sooo smooth and can still take almost any car you will find on the road. Not bad for a car that is at least 14yrs old. Plus, the C4 has something special about it. You can really feel the passion put into the design and build!

That is what makes you real guilty for trading up. Maybe you should go for a 96 in great shape. Thats what I have and honestly, I would pick it over a C5 or C6 any day!

Thats what I think!:cool

Oh yeah, I know what you are saying about having two Vettes in the garage! That would be cool! So would hitting lotto! Then I will have a red C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6! And, a nice garage to keep them in! Its nice to dream about!

Well,I never never drove one much that I didn't Like!!:thumb
That's why I have 2 C3's 1 4Sp,1 Automatic,2 C4's 1 6Sp,1 Automatic
2 C5's both 6 Sp's!!:L
Bet you thought I was going to say Automatic!!;LOL;LOL;LOL
If I could afford it,I'd like at least 1 C1 and 1 C2 63 Split Window 4 Sp Coupe!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

I'm afraid I have to agree with dogfish on this one, IMHO the c4 is the last of the truly great "driver's corvettes". After owning and enjoying c4s for many years I bought a 2008 a year ago. The car is flawless, it rides and drives perfectly, it's quiet, comfortable, has tons of storage, incredibly reliable, more powerful than I'll ever need and it gets great mileage. But there is something about the c4 that makes you feel connnected with the car, I don't know what it is, maybe it's the steering, or the road feedback, or the weight distribution or something. The c4 isn't nearly as powerful as a c6 but the handling is outstanding, and you actually feel like you're part of the car, especially on a winding mountain road. It's a raw, tactile sensation that, I think, allows you to fully explore the limits of the car's engine, chassis, brakes, and transmission; it's like the car is an extension of your senses. This kind of sports car feedback is missing on my c6, but even so I think chevrolet went in the right direction with the c6, they needed to make the car more practical for everyday driving and they succeeded admirably. If I had the room I would buy another c4, but I don't want to become one of those guys who owns several cars.

The c1,c2,c3 were all a bit underpowered and primitive except for the occasional 427, etc. The C4 is a drivers car you can feel it in your feet, butt and hands as if you are a part of the package. C5 and C6 are more civilized, you can get in an out without twisting a hip or knee, they are quiet and ride great. As I see it if you love the machine get a C4 if you love the image get a C5 or C6. When you start up a C4 the car seems to say " Hi honey let's go for a ride." C5 and C6 just say" Ok what now." Like the women says in the Cadillac commercial " When you turn your car on does it return the favor."

Yesterday i wuz crusin wilshire an got caught a lite at rodeo drive right next to a new 427, yellow rag top..He checked mine out and i couldnt help but think he was jealous....lol
perhaps of no car payment or cheap insurance or the hassell of worrying about your paint job every time you park ...it would be a bit hard for me to relax driving that much cash around..but to each his own......hey .. Sam Walton drove around in a 1952 chev pick up....lol

Well put:upthumbs:beer I have never driven a C6, but I have driven a C3, C4, and C5. The C4 makes you feel like you are a part of the car, and the others didn't. I told a friend the other day that went for a ride with me.........you don't just get in a C4, you put it on. :_rock:w

He got senile in his old age and went to a Ford. ;LOL;LOL;LOL
