Folks,

Many of you were aware that I went to Wildwood to attempt to get the PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION with LADY - well, she tried valiantly, but we came up short! You can have one item FAIL and you have 15 minutes to fix that failure - the next failure you are toast! That's what happened with LADY, and I tell you what I don't know if I want to go through that again!!!!!!

Rick

sorry to hear LADY didn't do better for you at Wildwood but I'm sure she gave her best. I understand the PV testing is VERY difficult and that many cars don't even bother to try so I wouldn't let it get you down.

BTW, you probably passed about 10 minutes from my house on your way to and from Wildwood

Barry

Barry,

Basically did 301N to 40E, over DELMEM Bridge, and then 55S and the reverse back home - around 400 miles round trip and averaged right at 14 mpg with the Titan pulling trailer/LADY!

Rick,

So enlighten the uninitiated. What do they do on a PV test? What failed you?
Any reference to an NCRS page somewhere that will tell what is involved in a PV test?

Dennis

until Rick can answer, I can tell you that on a PV test is described as follows by the NCRS PV guide.
"The purpose of the test is to determine if the car entered is correctly equipped and able to fully function and perform as designed, intended, and expected when new".

any addition or removal of any option is unaccepable.

the test than pretty much checks EVERYTHING operational on the car from cold starts, warm starts, operation of all functions like lights, heaters, radio, power antenna, cig lighter, all gauges, pass a driving test.
The check for exhust leaks, choke operation, engine noise, seat tracks, lamps, glove box lock and key fuction, clock, ash tray, horns, brakes, etc! The car must even be equipped with original bias-ply tires.
I think you get the idea.
Just ONE failure stops the test and you have only 15 minutes to be able to repair it to operational status. A second failure fails the test.

The PV is a tough test!

Wow, unbelievable. I never knew that. That's what I like about the forum, always good info, always learning.

Sorry you did not pass PV judging.
I was told by others that have done it that they had everything working perfect but it seems pulling it on to the judging feild bring at all of the gremlins.

Maybee youll reconsider this in a while and try again.

Best of luck

Barry pretty much covered PV! They check EVERYTHING operationally - first problem, you have 15 minutes to correct (Lady had master cylinder leak - FIXED), and then second problem was ammeter (sp?) would not hold steady - AUTOMATIC FAILURE! Continued rest of PV and had two other failures - outside mirror would not hold position when I hit a bump, and the right vent window did not open in the correct number of revolutions!

Rick,

Sorry you didn't get the P.V. but they all sound like realatively easy fixes. I know that you had a pretty demanding show schedule already is there another meet that you can fit in to get the P.V. before the (inter) National?

Tom

Tom,

If I hadn't already commited to Bloomington, I could have done a Regional in Minnesota. So, I will wait until next year or possibly the year after to chase PV and then do the other steps to attempt TOP FLIGHT/DUNTOV in Boston in 2007.
