In trying to figure out what radiator I have in my 72 LT-1, I discovered I have a copper and brass 3019190. It is for a 69 big block with auto trans. My LT-1 has a/c and I can't run it in traffic in the summer as it will gradually overheat. If I recore this BB radiator, will it cool better than a new, correct size, replacement copper and brass. I know aluminum is better, but its also alot more expensive.

Spend the extra money and replace your radiator with a DeWitts. They are listed under the site sponsors.

Keep it Original

An LT-1 vert with AC is one of the rarest, most desireable C3s. I'd keep it stock. A new correct reproduction is all you need to avoid overheating.

another option is to replace the original with an aluminium 4 core rad and store the orig for when you want to sell (if that ever happens). I put a alum 4 core in my 454/ no a/c and I can sit in ft lauderdale/ miami traffic in summer with the gauge never seeing 200 degrees farenheit.
I forgot which co. I used, if you want I can dig through the piles of reciepts

hey gary

i have a 69 BB w/ A/C i swapped it from a 350 NOM
i recored the rad and in the hottest day this summer it DID NOT OVERHEAT

moral of the story ANYTHING RECORED SHOULD KEEP IT COOL even your old original
