This is a really dumb question, but here goes anyway,

If I ever get a flat, will my full size tire and rim (stock) fit in the spare tire tub where my donut tire now lives? If not what does one do? I know you could put the flat tire in the passagnger seat but waht if you have a passenger?

Sorry for asking the obvious, but I say up at night thinking of these issues - somebody has to save the world!

Thanks,
Radar:L

What he said.

The spare tire carrier can hold a 275 or 285 tire but not the 315 on the Grand Sport/ZR1. After removing the mini-spare, you will see that the tray and the stud have 2 sets of notches. Just drop the tray and the stud to the lower notches and slide in the full size wheel/tire.

Note: The tray will be a lot closer to the ground then and you'd need to be careful driving over speed bumps - ask me how I know?

yep...
what they said...

Just wanted to add that the carrier can be a PITA to get into a travel position with the full size tire in there,. and IF you happen to need to store a 315 you can by using a short length of chain with S hooks on the ends. I used one to hook onto the carrier and the other to hang onto something up high enough to pull the carrier up good enough to drive...

That T-bolt was d/c early on...long before the c4 line was completed, so other creative solutions had to be discovered to secure the spare carrier for its up (secured) and lowered positions.

Not dumb at all. I learned something new today. I noticed the different notches when washing out the area around the spare tire and carrier. Didn't mean anything at the time. :cool!:

It would not hurt to check the spare tire in a C4 occasionally to make sure it has air and that the jack is in the car.

Also, the spare tire is a great place for mice nests. Ask me how I know that also!
