Mannn I hope its a coupe, hatchback, that is one of my favorite parts of the c6, how it seems to flow wonderfully a FRC would look kind of ugly but with 500hp I know it has to keep stable, but still I think they could get the same performance
and keep the excellent looks

It may be a FRC

After owning two frc's, you tend to fall in love with the shape as any corvette owner will with their own car. Advances already made with the 05' structure my allow a coupe. My best guess would say no, and the only reason in my opinion is due to weight savings. The new ZO6 will probably weigh 80-130 pounds less than the current C6 coupe.

well im shure they will figure something out to make it look good bucause after seeing some photochops of the coupe with an frc......well just :cry, it looks good on the c5 but i dont think it will look that great on the c6, I hope they find other parts to make less weight like carbon fiber and stuff like that, how much more does a coupe weigh than an frc and if it is alot then why are the C5Rs coupes

The current C5 Z06 weighs approx. 3117 lbs compared to the average coupe or Vert that weighs in at approx. 3234 or more depending on installed options. Over 100 lbs is quite a difference, and the effect on performance can readily be seen by doing the math to compute the HP to weight factor.
The C5Rs have all been coupes, probably due to their better CD figures, and I think they have been around before the FRC came out in 99. But remember, that body is probably nothing but a shell over the racing chassis. A good example of racing bodies that are decieving would be the NASCAR bodies. Those bodies are made to look like the brand they repesent, but in reality they are nothing but a shell that meets the NASCAR specs over a tubular racing chassis.

I think that to combat the weight problem, they should just add more HP!!!:L:L:L

It will look just like the vert., with a hard shell I would imagine. I don't think it looks all that bad........but who can say for sure, Im biased in my opinion.:bu

Dave hill said in an interview it would be somethink like a hard top that looks a little more like the coupe.

I agree Todd. When I first saw the Z06 when it came out I wondered why they started with the "ugliest" model. Now that I have an FRC I love the lines. When I see a coupe it almost seems too thick towards the rear, a little less sleak than the FRC. I think with the lines of the C6 it would look really good in an FRC. ;)

Gorgon, I remember my 99 FRC. I modded that car heavily, and it was fast. When I traded it for the 03 ZO6, the Corvette technician took the 99 FRC for a ride and said that it was faster than the 01 ZO6. It definitely was pushing close to 400hp. The 99 Hardtop will be a collector's car in the future as far as I can tell by the production numbers. Sometimes I wish I still had it, but my 03 ZO6 has grown on me a bit. I think the transmission in the 99 was better than the one in the Z06, and also in the gas mileage department, and overall mechanicals. The ZO6 transmission causes the car to roll around 2000 rpm @ 80mph, where my 99 FRC seemed to roll around 1800 rpm @ 80mph, even though the are both 3.42 axle ratios. I had my 03 ZO6 in for new syncros, shift pads, shift forks and input/output shaft seals already. All covered under warranty, with only 10,000 miles on the odometer. Never had a ounce of trouble with the 99 FRC transmission, that I was alot harder on.

Our FRC currently has 92k miles and also has some decent mods. Not near what you had on yours, but it is also very fast. I haven't gotten the chance to dyno or run the car at the track, but one can tell this car is very fast. It's good to hear how the FRC has held up and disappointing that the Z06 doesn't seem to handle the stress as much.

Good luck with the Z06. I am thinking about trading my 95 vert up for a C6 vert in a couple years. Hopefully this car holds up well.

Gorgon, a C6 Vert.?..................I'm jealous now. I'm trying very hard not to want a C6, so I have to pull my horns in, and not get the C6 fever. To curve my craving, I have been thinking of adding a Magnacharger to the ZO6, or finding my dream car, a 70' coupe. When I was eight years old, I fell in love with a new 70' coupe, and that's is "when it happened to me." I knew someday I would own a Corvette. Now, I'm on Corvette #3. I find long term value in the 50th Anniversary ZO6, but I believe in driving the car and not worrying about keeping it stock, or miles on the odometer. I want to enjoy it, seeing I'm spending all this money on it, it would be a shame to let it sit in a garage.

I love top-down driving and really enjoy the open air drive in my 95 vert. What I don't like is all the chassis flex that is very evident after spending any seat time in a C5. While the goal is a C6 vert, I may break down and save a bunch of money and get a late model C5 vert. Of course it would be a Torch Red 6-speed. ;) But the C6 vert is the convertible Z06 everyone wanted and I'm not sure how I will be able to pass one up when i see it in Precision Red. :D

Gorgon, I know what you mean about chassis flex. I had a 94' coupe with the removable top. Man that windshield flexed alot with the top off. I can imagine the same with the vert. Well, when the time comes, I'm sure you will make the right decision to satisfy your needs. I installed an inverted scoop open to the engine bay area today on the ZO6, that brings air in from below the Blackwing filter. Looks good. I ported the throttlebody last week, so hopefully have alot more air coming in for a few extra horses. I haven't taken the car out yet with the new mods. because of the snow, but it looks like tomorrow I can drive it to work and test it out. I'll let you know how it goes on this thread.
