Hello everybody!
Just wondering if anyone can tell me if Z06 wheels will fit my 84? I don't care for the stock wheels too much, thought I'd look into some other options. Any response would be appriciated.

Hi there,

Z06 wheels have different offset then the wheels on an 84, so they can be made to fit, but adapters will be required.

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't recommend it, an '84 has 16" both front and rear, sorry, I had an '86 and still use those rear wheels for the drag slicks on my '95. The bigger wheels look better, but even with the conversion (if it works), you lose a lot of torque. Your call.

If you go with the larger diameter rim, you will want to go with a lower profile tire, to keep the tire diameter the same. On my '84 I went from 255/50-16's (26.02" diameter) to 275/40-17's (25.66" Diamter). So the larger rims, besides looking great, actually reduced the overall tire diameter just a tad, which actually results in better low-end performance, or percieved torque.

I went with the AFS A-Mold wheels (ZR-1 style) because they offer 17"x9.5" and 17"x11" rims with the correct offset for the '84. I like the Z-06 wheels too, but to my knowledge these are not available with the correct offset for the 84, and I would have had to use spacers at added cost.

BTW, the wheels and tires made a dramatic improvement in the look of the car.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like Z06 wheels may be more trouble than it's worth. On the upside, ZR-1 wheels sound like a better option. I love my 84 but what were they thinking when the they designed those wheels???

Sorry for the late reply back!!

I am looking at some z06 wheels for my 84 from a company that does them custom for corvettes but I can't remember who. they do fit better than most people think.
