I am currently turning my 359 into a 383 stroker and was wondering what a windage tray does and if I should consider one.
Thanks

Attaches to the bottom of the crank and keeps the oil from the pan from splashing on the crank-- commonly used with a deeper pan and a longer swinging pick-up. I may be mistaken, but I first recall it on the DZ block for the 69 Z-28. It became the rage for all us small block c-3 guys-- although frankly, we never knew exactly why - - it's just that the Big Dogs all did it !

HOWDY, the windage tray is two-fold in purpose.first it keeps oil from splashing on the crankshaft. the less splash, the less fiction that would be on the crank from the oil hitting it.
second is serves as a very basic baffle, to keep the oil in the bottom of the pan.which during hard acceleration and cornering is a good thing to keep the oil near the pick-up

dazzle them with your brilliance, if not baffle 'em with cow doo-doo
