In shopping for a window sticker at the NCM, I see that in order to get a window sticker, I must also order a build sheet at the same time. The non-member window sticker price is $30 and the build sheet is $40. I can order the build sheet separately, however.

Although I'd like both, I am wondering if just the build sheet would suffice, but I have never seen one. I basically want to find out exactly what the car has as far as factory options. I am not necessarily concerned with the details of what the retail costs were and the estimated MPG, etc., although that would be fun too. So, would the build sheet be basically want I want? Does anyone have a scanned sample from any car, just to give me an idea of what it looks like? If I go "cheap" and get just the build sheet, will I wish I had the window sticker too and then be stuck buying another build sheet, just to get the window sticker?

your car should already have that, underneath the center console lid... they are listed as 3 digit codes, which can be translated

I bought both sheets for my 87 . I think it's really cool to have them and it also helps support the museum . Cliff

Thanks to all. I had already forgotten about the list of options under the console lid, so thanks for that! I also tried the window sticker link...interesting. Tim

Yea, build sheet is same as the RPO codes already in the car. I think there is supposed to be a build sheet stuck to the gas tank or something. All I wanted was a window sticker but had to buy a build sheet also. While I was at it I got a brochure for $10. Total cost was $82. I think if you buy a build sheet you might as well get the window sticker while you are at it. Guy

The build sheet is the document that follows the car down the assembly line as it is put together. Not only are the RPO codes listed at the bottom of the sheet, there are other codes for specific components, the date and time of the start of assembly, build sequence number, receiving dealer, order number, specific front and rear shipping weight and a bunch of other stuff.

There are actually 2 build sheets in the car. One is on the forward top portion of the gas tank and is glued in place. The other is rolled up and inserted in the front crossmember. This one can be removed "IF" you can get hold of it with needle-nose pliers, twist it into a really small roll and pull it through a 1/2" diameter hole without tearing it.

I got the window sticker along with all of the other documents when I bought the car (used). It was never placed on the window so it looks brand new. Even though the "regular" C4's may never be collector's items, I like having all the documentation. I even found a sales brochure and the C4 VHS video which is narrated by Dave McLellan.

Go for both documents! Together, they would look neat in a picture frame in a den or even the garage. Getting these helps support the National Corvette Museum. You should even consider becoming a member of the Museum. You will get 10% discounts at the store (inclubing the build sheet and window sticker) and the membership is even tax-deductible.

I also ordered both sheets,
I didn't have the original window sticker and find it interesting to see what the car cost.
I also found that the car originally came with a Bose CD player and new doesn't :mad

The build sheet I can't seem to make heads or tails out of it?
Some stuff I figured out but not all ??
I would like to find a site or something that explains what it all means but it looks like each station signs off the work they did.

One really cool thing is that I can see the exact second my baby was born :dance

I also learned that I have the wimpy 2.59 gears.
This isn't listed on the window sticker.

I find it fun to have just for me..

I vote go for it !
