OK.. I know, the first question is you drive in the rain???

No, but ya never know when you might get stuck in a shower (like I almost did tonight). So... I'm trying to finger out wy my wipers don't wipe!

I see to connectors going to the wiper motor. One has 3 leads on it... blue on top, yellow in middle, and I think the bottom one is black. The other connector is a single black line underneath the first connector. When power is applied... nothing happens.... if I press the squirt control, I hear a click.

That's all I got for ya! Any pointers?

Thanks,
Dave

If your sure you have power going to the wiper ,then you need a new wiper motor, they are cheap ,buy a new one.Buy the one with the pump.

New ones with the pump, cheap? Where? My 73 is in need of a new motor.

What he said :eyerole ... I'm seein em for 170 or more with pump.

I'll have to try that one, mine is a driver. I'll be interested to see if it comes with the pump available. Thanks.....

There are two types of wiper motors for 1974. How do I know which one I need?

Thanks

Take a good look at it and go to the parts store and buy the exact one that you have. If you are hearing a click you have power, that's the solonoid kicking in to engage the wiper pump. It will only work when the wipers are moving because it works off a cam in the wiper motor housing.
Since you have to remove the washer pump from the motor to swap it, why not try to get the old motor to work? The rivets can be drilled out of the housing to pull it apart and check out the brushes. Hell, it's only a $5.00 core charge if you mess it up. Lots easier than trailing arms!;)

How do I get the pump off?? It appears to have a rivet holding it on... do I need to drill that bad boy? If I get it all working again, how can I secure it back on the wiper motor?

Thanks!

There should be a 3-4 screws holding the pump assembly to the wiper motor.

Pete, You were right... There were three small bolts holding it on... They were covered in gunk, so I missed 'em the 1st time around.

So I took everything apart and it all looked good. I put it back together, and I'd like to run power to it and see if it will work (ruling out a bad switch). Any idea which prongs are pos/neg? There is a 3 prong harness clip that has a blue/green wire on top, yellow in middle, and black on bottom. Then there is a seperate single clip that looks like a ground with a black wire on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

On the 3 prong, Black is GND the other 2 are the power on and intermittent inputs. I don't know which one's which.
The two prong is the solonoid for the pump. Black is GND, and so on.
