Wiper and speedometer don't work on a 79

I am posting this thread for a buddy who owns a 79. I have an 85 and I am not familiar with his problems. What I understand is that the c3 have a inherit problem with the windshield wiper controls. The owner has claimed that he has replaced the pulse circuit and no luck getting the windshield wipers to work.



His speedometer has stopped working.



I planned on working on his car this weekend and please send any advice on how to trouble shoot is problems?

Can't help on the wiper problem as my car no longer has the pulse. As for the speedo, it is driven by a cable that connectso from the tranny to the back of the speed. There is a clip that you depress to insert the cable into the speedo. I would first check this to make sure the cable has not become disconnect. The cable could also be broken inside its sleeve. The cable needs to be lubricated and if not it can bind and eventually break The other possibility is that the speedo itself has broken internally.

Well repaired both problems. The speedometer problem was the cable and the wiper problem was the motor.

Believe it or not, both parts at NAPA. I need to stop going to Pep Boys!
