Wiper door is confussed..

Instead of my wiper door going up when the wipers are turned on, as soon as I start the car the door comes up. When I turn the car off it stays open, then when I dissconnect the battery, it closes.

Also my wipers only cycle up out of the well about 6 inches and then return back down into the well. Does that mean my motor is bad or possibly a gear problem ?

Is there an on line article on wiper system diognosis for early C3s ?

Wiper doors are 100% vacuum, up and down. Sounds like you need a check valve.

Check the limit switch on the cowl. Plunger on the wiper door hardware should contact the limit switch as the wiper door opens. This grounds the wiper motor and turns on the wipers.
