I am starting to collect the parts required to reinstall the proper wiper door, grill and hood on my '72. I bought the car with a '73 hood and want to bring it back to original.

I have a line on the wiper door linkage. The linkage is out of a 68 and I am told that it was working when removed. Assuming that it is in ok shape, was the linkage the same from 68-72?

As far as I know, they're identical with the exception of the actuator bolt, which is smaller. I believe it's 1/4" vs. 5/16" for the '69. Not an issue if you replace the bolt with the '69 version. It is held in place with a special rivet, but you can find those at Paragon (as well as rent the installation tool - it's not a pop-rivet). Or, you could just use a nut and bolt along with the correct plastic bushings. Even though the wiper linkage is in "working" order, you may want to go ahead and refurb it and replace all the rivets and bushings. I think there are 18 rivets total. I'll send a pic of the one I restored...

And here's one of the 'before' pics showing the actuator bolt...

sixty9vette,
Thanks for the info and the great pics. It's a big help. I will try and get that linkage now.
