Wiper Door Vacuum Canister Clean Up

The Vacuum canisters for my wiper door and headlights work fine but they are a little rough looking. I'd like to clean them up a bit. Is there any trick to restoring these with either paint or polish? They appear to have an anodized finish on them.

I think either Corvette America or Midland Corvette has chromed covers for the headlights actuators, not sure if you could use one of these for the wiper door, as I dont have one to check! Someone must know.

Otherwise have you tried carb cleaner?
