Wire wheel to clean piston domes

After 5 years of running this combination I decided to tear it down and change it. I used a cup shaped wire wheel on my die grinder and spent no more then 5 minutes on this bank cleaning all 4 pistons and most of the head surface.

A wire wheel on the end of my die grinder can not mark anything but I bring each piston to the top before cleaning

Did you vacuum it all out when you were finished each cylinder?

I'd be worried about residue.....especially little bits of wire. Am I crazy?

Yes I did vacuum it out and I did bring each piston to the top before cleaning but without heads the motor turns over very easy. I use lots of oil on the cylinders and every time I am in the shop I seem to be misting with WD 40.

And I struggle with getting the oil residue off my aluminum intake.

i always cut a piece of brass shim stock the correct height,length and thickness to slip between the piston and the cylinder wall above the top ring to prevent the carbon from getting into that area causing a very hard clean up problem getting the carbon out of that gap

I bead blast my intakes. I use old #6 glass beads at first then finish with new #6 beads and it give that new shiny look.

Next time I'm up there we'll have to do this. Should I buy the the beer or the beads.
