I just returned from the dealer after taking my new '04 Vert in for its first warrenty service.

After travelling through a typical mid Florida summer monsoon my wipers refused to stop.

It seems the drains overflowed and the water shorted out the circut board in the wiper motor.

Holler Chevrolet in Winter Park said the problem is "common". They replaced the wiper motor and inlarged the drain holes to keep up with the flow.

Unfortunately your dealer was right, this is a common problem. It is easy to check and clean the drain to make sure it doesn't happen again.

With the hood open, you can see how the water from the windshield drains into a collection "bucket" on the drivers side. It is a tight fit, but reach down under this "bucket" and you will feel 2 rubber tubes. You can stick a finger up into the rubber tubing and clean out any collected debri. It takes 2 seconds and will save you from replacing wiper motors.

Good advice, thanks,
