I am going to install a Corsa, Cat Back "Pace Car" system on my 2000 convertible. I would like to know if the Corsa X-Pipe is worth the additional cost? What benefit do you get for the additional $300? Has anyone installed the system with the original H-Pipe, and then went back to install the X-Pipe later?

An X-pipe improves exhaust scavenging. On a stock motor, it's not worth any additional hp, but it does mellow and improve the sound somewhat (e.g., reducing "motorboat" sound at startup, and eliminating or reducing deceleration popping).

Why X-pipe

I recently put on B&B Route 66 mufflers only, keeping the stock H-pipe. The guys at B&B assured me that they have dyno'd all the X-pipes and there is no HP gain. They told me that that is why B&B does not sell an X-pipe.

After reviewing this and other forums and talking to many people who are not in the business of selling X-pipes, I am convinced that the biggest change will be the reduction of some burble sound that we get on deceleration.

I kept the stock H-pipe and enjoy the new, louder exhaust with some burbling.

Exhaust preference sounds are very personal and vary greatly.
