I'm planning Hooker sidepipes for sbc 71 roadster but need to gage if clearance for aftermarket oil pan.

Would really appreciate if someone w/smallblock C3 w/ stock oil pan with Hooker sidemount sidepipes could measure UNDER car.

If you have a factory oilpan, I need to know horizontal distance between sides of pan and closest ex tubes ... also approximate vertical distance from oil pan rails to bottom of closest ex tubes.

So, if anyone's got an sbc w/ sidepipes ... and you're gonna be under your car in the next week or so ... hows about try for those 4 measurements and shoot me an email? ... I'd really appreciate it!!!!

I measured approximately 4.5 inches from side of oil pan to closest exhaust tube.

What is the other dimension you needed?

Thanks Bossvette & vmrod!

Was that a stock OE pan that has 4.5" from side to tube?

Other dimension: drop a line down from an oil pan bolt to about the lowest part of an ex tube (primary) ... I realize the tubes are not directly below the op bolts ... but about how far below the op bolt is the BOTTOM of closest tube?

I'm looking at several pans that are only 7" deep overall ... but bottom of sump configured similar to a box ... sump box has large footprint ... the sump box dimensions approx 12" long x 14" wide x 3 1/4" tall. This type pan often known as a "road race pan".

This Canton 15-240 is like the pans I'm considering.

Will pull & stow very good original L48 ... assembling sbc 406 to go back in ... the hookers & pan would be for 406 ... pipes & pan fit 406 same as 350.
