Do the ZMAX oil additive worth to buy and use? I saw the product in Pep Boys and I remember seen it on TV. Have anyone used it before?:confused

Nuh-uh!!! :nono I've never used the stuff, but I've got a Vette-bud right now who is p-oh'ed to the nth degree cause cruising weather is here and where is his baby?!... Sitting in his garage, on a lift with the motor sitting beside it because of ZMax-he thinks. He'd also used some other additive on previous occasions and according to him, the car just wasn't pulling as strong. Plus, he was getting an occasional sputter with smoke coming outta the exhaust that led him to believe the car was burning oil or had an unrelated emissions leak somewhere. Anyway, he showed me this viscuous, black stuff off his dipstick and now thinks it's the ZMax cooking in the engine. So out the engine came and he's taking it apart.
Buyer beware.

PLRX -
If you do a search, you will find at least one previous thread from about a year ago (or maybe longer) that dealt with additives. If I remember correctly, the concensus of opinion was to not use additives.

I have Zmax in my 86 ,think they will buy the engine after 1000 miles?
I also put lucas oil, think they will buy my motor?
I will see I just shot it with 150 shot still holding together.
I don't know which turned my oil black but it's eather the z or L after 100 miles.
Maybe it's the 106 race fuel?
The engine has over 300 plus and it was smoking like crazy now its not.
Plugs aren't fouling eather.
Captian!I don't think I can hold Her any longer, I think she is about to BLOW!
