92 ZR-1
92 ZR1 that I recently puchased. Car starts and runs fine,BUT...when accelerating hard the motor appears to have a slight (less than a second) hesitation before it accelerates. It does not cut out completely, but seems more like it momentarily bogs. Has anyone had similar problem? Is this normal or where should I start looking to determine the cause if it is not normal.

Thanks

I have never worked on a ZR1 but I think I can give you some basic things. First thing is if the car is low mileage you may wanna run some BG 44K fuel treatment thru the tank a couple times. This stuff works excellent. You may also wanna scan the TP Sensor to see if it has any dead spots in it. Those 2 things are a good start along with checking for plug wires that may be original and maybe not passing current like a new set. Things deteriorate with age and even though the car may have only 30k they can still go bad. Hope this helps.

The car has 22k on and one of these could very well be the problem. Is the BG 44K fuel treatment safe for this engine and where would I find it.

Thanks

Go to www.bgprod.com to find the closest person near you to buy from. It is safe for any car. I would try the 44k first. 2 tanks in a row. 1 can per tank. This stuff works. I sell it at my shop and people love it.

Best thing for you to do is give it tune up then open it up(wot). When i first got mine the first owner never really open it up so there was alot of carbon buildup in the motor. I had a slight lag on the gas but after WOT a few time it got alot better. I bet the person that you got it from never really drove this car much or hard.

PS make sure the key is on ;)

You should only use the car with key on. Once the secondary system is open, it take a small throttle angle to disengage the secondary side. Drive it right and you can keep the secondary side from massive amounts of build-up.
Only use a detergent based fuel system cleaner if you have the stock fuel injectors.

Can you give me an example of a detergent based fuel system cleaned.

Red Line is one of two Im aware of. I use Red Line. I think Chevron is the other.

If your still having this problem , you may want to check the map sensor. The rubber hose that is in the back some times gets a little oil in it causing a problem as you describe. Very easy to check and clean.

agree with above posts..belive u have slow secondaries opening...carboned up...need to clean up.... key on tract.off(unless rain or snow) and run her hard...keep those secondaries working and clean!!! like zr-1 mk and jhong321 point out!!

Does this hesitation occured as you are opening the throttle or does it occure after you are at WOT but as the engine reaches a certain RPM. Also, does it happen with the power key off, on or either way?

Is the car modified? if so, how.
What's the condition of its ign. system?
Fuel system?
