So this spring I am going to give my car a new paint job. A friend of mine paints for competitions, and said if I buy the paint we can do the work for free. He also said it is good to have all the parts to paint at once so that color matching is easy.

I have been thinking about putting a small spoiler on the back, and I like the description of the Motorsport model from MidAmerica, but they don't have any pictures that I feel show the look well enough. I don't want something huge and/or ugly.

Does anyone have pictures of nice looking spoilers you recommend? Anyone use the Motorsport spoiler? I have noticed several people on these forums talking about a Greenwood model. Any installation suggestions? Anything I should keep in mind?

Thanks, in advance, for any help.

Yep - Greenwood...

Greenwood Corvettes - Aerodynamic Body Kits for C3, C4, C5, C6 Vettes

Greenwood Corvette - Street C4s

just my opinion but the c4 looks great the way she is without any addons .

I second that, if the C4 needed a spoiler, GM would have one on it! :thumb

What has need got to do with it?

Forget what other people say, opinions are like noses, everybody has one.
Olskool is taking one off his car, ask him if he is selling it.

I was suggesting that if a spoiler on a C4 vette provided any real benefit to performance, GM would have included a spoiler on the vette to begin with. Spoilers on a C4 vette are more for looks (whether good or bad) than functionality. ;)

It is about looks, and about personality. I want my car to be mine. I liked the Greenwood models because they say that they produce very little drag, and the Motorsports models look nice. (Sorry Z51JEFF, the GTO style is not for me.) Really my only concerns other than getting the model I like are that my MPG will drop and that access for filling up will be complicated. I don't really expect it to make my car perform any better. People tell me it will lower the resale value, but whoever sells a Corvette;).

If anyone has recommendations for a spoiler that looks similar to the Motorsports style, but that you feel is better for some reason, I would love to hear about it. If you have one of these for sell (I don't care about color) I would like to hear about it. If you think Corvettes shouldn't have spoilers, then please don't put one one your car so I can tell which one is mine. But you should know... I will ignore you. :)

This is an ecklers rear hatch wing, it is discontinued but you could probably find one if you google it. I found this for sale on some car forum when I googled it. I will be painting it in the spring to match the car, it is primer black right now.

Wow that is a design I had not seen or considered before. It is sort of like the wing from the Mitsubishi 3000GT. I am not sure how I feel about its look, I might really like it. But it looks like getting access to your gas cap is going to be a pain, and is it attached to the rear glass? Do you fear breaking your glass when you shut the hatch?

Thanks for the new idea.

It bolts to those little black caps. You remove the caps and the bolts from the inside bolt though the glass into the wing. The good thing is if you get tired of it just unbolt. No holes to fill.:thumb

Got it from an import shop, modded it to fit the car.

The Greenwood body packages above ought to be put on mustangs. :bash

Following the logic of putting a spoiler on a Corvette, I hope you don't want to paint your car like this:

I have to put on my purist hat for a moment. Installing a wing/spoiler, is probably the worst thing that you could do to a Corvette.

Here are some clear examples of other people who have attempted to add non OEM-spoilers to vehicles and have become the laughing stock of the their community.

I know to each is their own, but I just wanted to poke fun here.......

Here will be a typical response by the supporter of the ugly spoilers:

I’m assuming you’re an older mature person and if that is the case, then I would expect that you among all people should be familiar with the phrase “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Why do you think that is a famous and wise phrase? Because it is true. Here’s a perspective for you. I always wanted a Corvette, and finally one day I did get one; when I got it, I wanted to put a Greenwood kit on the car, so side skirts, front lip, rear skirt and SPOILER. No, it was not a big unsightly spoiler, it was a typical Corvette spoiler – useless – in the real world. However, I LOVED my kitted up Corvette, in fact I still have it (24 years later). More recently I got a Cougar and guess what? when I got the car, I thought it looked really “planejane” UNTIL, I put a skirt kit, front lip, and REAR SPOILER and a rather high one at that. I know alot of people probably think it looks silly and even I know is not functional, but ITS MINE!!! I don’t give a flying F#$k if anybody else thinks it looks silly."

Just my opinion, but looking at these spoilers, this one looks best. Its not to overbearing. The 'wing' type is (again my opinion) the look of race track vette (in no way bad).....this one gives look of both street and track if desired. It looks conservative yet functional. Just my opinion.....
