hello 2 all c6 owners & im really talking 2the one who have 2005 models ...i had the worst expericence of my life the day before thanksgiving ...when my c6 just shutdown ...when i say shut down i mean shut down ...ok had 2 have it tolled 2 the dealership ..they had 2 drag my vette on 2 an flat bed cause the car wouldnt do anything ...ok it gets worst they had 2 keep the car 4 at least the 1st time an whole month cause they couldnt figure out why the vette just would not come back online ...then they had 2 fly in a platform supervisor from GM 2 figure out what s wrong wit my vette ..come 2 find out it was my navi radio ..thats factory ok ..that was the 1st time & in fixing that they messed up my seats where they quit working my telescopic steering wheel didnt work so guess what they had 2keep it another month ,,so they burned up all kinds of bcms& some other stuff that control the computer on the vette ...& i had a bill of over $4,000 worth of work that had 2 be did 2 my baby ..so it was a good thing that i had extended warruarty...but i guess what im trying 2 find out has any 2005 owner had the same problem

Man, hate to hear of the problems!!! I posted a question a while back concerning the first-year problems of the 05 C6. Often the first year of a production has some bugs that later years work out. It does seem that the 2005 has some of those issues. I hope all your problems happend at once and that you have no more in the future!!

well i have had my baby back now ...i guess about an month getting 4 an big parade that our vette club is in & havent had any other problems & hope 2 GOD ...thats its all behind me ...

well im in an vetteclub ..wit atleast 45 vettes in the club & most of them are c6 wit alot of them being 2005 models ..so im the 1st & just amybe it wont happen 2 anyone else..see that why i started the thread 2 see any other 05 models had the same problems ...i think most of the problems is the the repairmens need 2 go back 2 school 2 learn how work on c6 cause these cars are very high -tech & i dont think they know what they are dealing wit

Our Corvette club is about 200 strong with most being C5's & maybe +/- 20 - C6's (including me) and so far I've never heard any C6 complants (other than batteries).

"Complaints" ... Sorry, I didn't read before I hit Submit Reply.

HI there,

If you had a PCM shutdown, maybe its possible, which shuts down the entire communications line.

Sure have seen that, but most definately isnt a common occurance.

Is there a common thread/occurance which brings this about???? :confused

He had mentioned 'Nav' radio being the cause....???

well guys ...im only telling you what the dealership said cause the problem & 2 be really sure ...i dont think that was the problem but then i dont work on vettes ...& also they said mines was the 1st that they had 2 have the whole system just completely shut the car down ..& yes it did have something 2 do wit the pcms& the bcms ...so my baby is back home now & i just hope it dont happen again cause it was very expensive but it was under warr. & im going 2 always keep this car under cause it can eat you alive wit repairs ...oh our club is STRICTLY VETTES OF MEMPHIS , TN. & we have only been 2getter now going on 2 years & we are really growing ...our motto is VETTES RULES !!!!

HI there,

The next time, ask them to itemize codes, although Im very suspect of the NAV causing the issue.

It only RECEIVED data, not transmission of data, so Im just glad they got you taken care of.

thanks & i will but hope that it never happens again ..they also were trying 2 say that the aftermarket amp & sub that i had installed about 4 years ago burned my radio 7 that was the reason the car shut itself down like i said i had it professionally install & i called the guy who did & he also said how can that be the problem wit it played & i nevered anday of problems wit the car ..but i do remember the day that it shut down ..rite before it did ..that car ran so many codes thru my message board & then just shut it self down & didnt come back up ...now im almost scared 2 have my amp hooked back up cause i dont want this car shut down on me again ,,,do you think thatcould have something 2 do wit it ...get back 2 me & let me know .

HI there,

It all depends on where your amplifer is located and if you shielded all your supply wires to and from it.

EMI plays havoc with these vehicles if not monitored.

It most certainly COULD have something to do with it.

well the amp is located behind the passenger seat & no ..the wires are not visable at all ..& also i had this install at least 4 years ago

so now my question cause i sill have factory radio just added so bass cause i had notice when the tops are out on my vette my radio sounds like crap ...so are you saying an amp shouldnt be hooked up 2 these cars ????

The wires being visible or not does not make them shielded. C4C5 was talking about "EMI" and tucking wires away does NOT make them shielded from EMI....that's interference....electrical kinda interference...it's magnetic dude!!

ok i understand all of what you are saying ...but the amp was installed from an very well know stereo shop here in memphis who have an very well known reputation here ... also it was installed 4 years ago & never had an day problem wit it & now all of a sudden it shuts the car down ...thats why im asking question because if the amp & sub is not compatiable then i dont want it hooked up ...but the sub is only feeding off an signal from another speaker &the amp is directly off the battery ...so im aware that is car is very high tech ...just looking 4 answers they have asked me 2 bring the vette back & the custom shop 4 thme 2 check it out ...

ok i know now what i need 2 inquire when i call the installers now ...now its all making sense 2 me
