I wanting to swap out my Stock front Y pipe header exhaust it is a 1986I want to put a 1985 Front Y pipe and a fully bolt on type 1985 Main Cat from a 1985 will this bolt up to my 1986 rear Y pipe.
Also will it clear everything in front like stock 1986 did.
I can order a Y pipe for a 1985 with out precats in Ca but I can't order a Y pipe with out pre cats for a 1986 in Ca.

Sure ya can !
I bought mine from Mid America (87 with pre-cats), delivered to my Ventura address and installed in my 'off-road', 'track only' modified Corvette.

I would not bet any money that any of them fit exactly, so be prepared to make adjustments. I have no idea if the Y flange will be an exact match for the header collector.

The difference may be iron heads vs aluminum heads in 86 and after.

I know that my Y had to be heated and bent to make it fit. The end at the cat was closer than the other end at the collector. Basically it had to be "fitted" even being a new piece.
Having a flanged Cat is convenient for fitting a "test pipe" ... It also helps Cats last muchhhhhhhhhhh longer..:D Still 2 yrs between test in Ca? unless a sale or random smog test comes up?

Loosing the pre-cats did as much for performance as the intake work and boring all together. I was amazed at how fast it revved when the pre-cats fell off..

Thanks Boomdriver

Ya I am cheating the system once again LOL.

I trying to get the most out of my build.

The trans at the trans shop I should be picking up this week $800.00 with a new 2200 stall convertor.

I learned never try to rebuild a trans by my self again LOL, wasted $600.00 rebuild kit and $400.00 convertor now junk.

I feeling like I am getting sick that day or the day after I get the trans back.

I am stay home and get well installing the trans back in to the Vett LOL.

I found its alot easyer to get this kind of work done at home when the wifes at work and the kids are at school I can get what needs to get done with beening side tracked by others at home.

Sure ya can !
