Can anybody recomend a good book on tuning a LT4 1996 manual 6.

Unfortunately, you are not going to find a "book" to lead you in the right direction. You are going to have to do a lot of research and more research and when you think your brain is about to explode, then start asking questions.

My first recommendation is to jump over to "thirdgen.org" and read everything in their DIY PROM section. (DIY PROM - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards)

I guess the first question to ask is what exactly are you looking for? Aside from tuning, what are you wanting to accomplish?

I don't know of any "Book", but as has been suggested there are places to conduct research.

I started off the same way. Trust me, go to the site recommended and start reading anything and everything there. You'll soon know who knows their stuff and find a lot of great information.
