So im off to my first step to plan out what i want to do with my car and have decided to focus on the valve train upgrading my Roller rockers from stock 1.5 to 1.6, Just a lil concerned about goin with aluminum or cast? Should I be? is cast a better built than aluminum?

The idea is weight....less weight less power is absorbed just making valves operate. Oil pump uses 12 hp to turn as an example...

Alum rockers with steel inserts are fine. If it were me, I'd stay away from all alum rocks (sure are lite) but they do tend to wear faster. Get some nice HD push rods, lite weight, and spend the money on GOOD roller HYD lifters...

The thing about cast is that they are very inconsistant..one may be 1:5.1 while the next will be 1.65:1 And thats all from the same package. Cast is not known for quality, just strenght. The alum with steel cups/tips seem to last and perform very well.

thanks agian Boom, yea I was a lil iffy about the aluminum rockers myself i dont want to say they seem "frail" but more suspect in a engine haha, ok so ill check out pushrods next, do you know anywhere I can get a open airbox? Or I was thinkin can I cut mine out just the inner portion where the small cowl induction slips are?

When I put aluminum rockers on an engine, I like the Crane Gold Race Rockers. I've used them on three different engines to date a 400 Gen 1 SBV8, a Big-Block and on the lS6 in my 2004. They've worked like a champ every time.

Ok thanks Hib! do you know I can buy a open airbox? or can I just cut mine out in the middle?

There's a couple sources you can also cut your's open, but with an L98 making less than 400-hp there's not a great advantage. The Late C4 air filter assmebly supports up to 500-hp before it becomes a serious restrictioni.

My 95 makes right at 500-hp, so I cut my stock top open and installed a Green Filter. On the chassis dyno, that set-up vs. no air filter at all, was a toss-up.
