1990 Cruise Control Fuse Blowing

I have a 1990 Couple and the Cruise Control/Power Mirror 3amp fuse continues to blow. I recently replaced the sun visors but other inside light work. Can anyone advise if I have a short in the wiring on the sun visors if that would cause the fuse to continue to blow.

I now checked the Sun visors wires and they are ok. I even unplugged them and the fuse is still blowing. The Manual I have shows a fuse box also beside the battery but my 1990 does not have a box there. I am also having no other problems beside that fuse blowing. All others are working and only the side mirror / cruise control is not working.

Second Question

Just found out there is a second fuse box on the 1990 Corvette. Can any one advise if the Cruise Control also is attached in the Aux Fuse Box or in the Power Accessories Breaker?

The 3 amp cruise control fuse provides 12 volts to the
drivers door power mirror switch and to the
cruise control stalk on the steering column. No other fuses are involved.

If you look at the turn signal/cruise control stalk
it pulls straight off. Attached to it is a small wiring
harness. Behind the stalk is a plastic cover that
you squeeze together to remove it. You have to
tilt the wheel to gain clearance. The tilt wheel
lever unscrews from the column. Once the cover
is removed, you can disconnect the electrical plug
to eliminate the stalk being the problem. To reinstall
the stalk you push it back in. Make sure it's seated
properly or the wipers won't work.

You can also remove the drivers door panel and verify
the wiring at the power mirror switch is in good shape.
If okay unplug the switch and see if that makes any
difference.

Otherwise good luck in finding where the Yellow wire
is shorted. For the cruise control stalk the Yellow wire from the 3 amp fuse changes color before it goes up to the steering column.

If your 90 is like my 93 then I would suggest you do the following. Remove the kick panel under the steering column. Remove the bracket that holds the steering column in place and then unplug the cruse wiring harness from the connector at the bottom of the steering column. Attach a wire to fish the wire back down the steering column. Do as previously suggested to remove the stalk. At this point you can check the continuity for the wires in the wiring harness. You may have to shake them while checking for continuity. If no continuity then do the following. Now gently a little at a time pull the wire's out of the steering column. What you are looking for is small skinned place on the wire. After you fix the wire reverse the disassembly procedure.

Good luck

As ecss says the wires change colors at each of the plugs in the system. That reminded me that I had done some drawings to help me with following what wires went from were to were.
