1976 Corvette Stingray, blue with oyster interior
Hello all, can you help me?

Just purchased my first Corvette. 1976, Corvette Stingray. 2 owner, (you wouldn't believe the story), garage kept the whole time, 48000 original miles.

I need AC work, vintage air or try to repair the original?

Front and rear bumpers, refinish the originals or go with the fiberglass replacements? Would like to use the fiberglass, but would like some experienced opinions. Also, if you have used the fiberglass replacements, what was the brand and were you happy?

By the way, I was sent over here by the guys on the new member thread.

Thanks for the help.

Billy, Welcome to the Corvette Forum.

Fiberglass or urethane is a decision if you want it original or not. Urethane = Original.

Fiberglass smooth like the rest of the car, no ripples. Mine are fiberglass.
It is not who makes them that is important (any of the top Corvette suppliers). Its who installs them that is really important. It is all about the fit.

Repair the stock system. The AC shop can fill you in on the swap to R134a if you want to go that route.

Keep the original urethane as long as you can.

Congrats on the '76.

Have the AC ckecked and see what is needed. Then evaluate what you want to do. I would only go with vintage air if the car did not have air originally.

I stuck with the original R2 because it get cooler than the R134a. R2 cost more to recharge, but it my mind if helps keep the cabin cooler all the better. A shut off valve to the heater core is another way to help keep the cabin cooler in the warmer months:pat.
