Help! Reverse light pulling amps and draining the battery

Having an issue with the reverse light switch is pulling 1 amp and draining the battery when parked in reverse even though the car is turned off. This is a 4spd transmission. If I unplug the switch the drain stops. Also stops when taken out of reverse. Backup lights don't come on when car is off. Everything works fine when car is running.

My advice would be to replace the back up switch or park the car in 1st.

You should not have battery power to the back up light switch with the key out of the ignition or in the off position. Start by finding out why the circuit is hot with the key off, and then switch the power source to the back up light switch to ignition on only. Then check for any parasitic battery drain. Good luck with it.

As above there should be no power on that circuit with the car off.
Since there is only a 1A drain I don't think it's getting a full 12V which is probably why the lamps aren't lighting up. I would check that the ignition switch is switching off properly. If it is then check for what bill suggested on the other thread, but not for it rubbing against metal, but to another wire that has a permanent 12V

Also try to only start one thread for the same problem. (Wherever it is it will get seen, if it's in a spot where it shouldn't be it will get moved)

Pulled the fuse for back up circuit...draw stopped
disconnected ignition switch...draw still 1 amp in reverse and turn signal clicks
changed ignition switch...draw still 1 amp in reverse and turn signal clicks
disconnected turn signal switch...draw still 1 amp in reverse

also validated back up switch is fine

Sounds like there is a fault in the wire between the switch and the fuse.
