Do you have more than 100k on your LT4? Post up here and tell me about it. I've got 136,000 on mine so far - I wanna know what the longevity of these engines is.

Have only 52,000 mile so mine, so I’m out of the running. 136,000 miles on a LT series engine is nothing to worry about given that it is properly maintained.

I’ve read (Corvette Fever, Vette, etc.) about L98s that are up into the 300,000 mile range and LT1’s in the 250,000 mile range.

I changed oil/filter every 3,000 miles when it was my daily driver, now that it’s a strictly a sunny day only car, I change every six months.

Even though the engines are very different in their moving parts (top end at least), I'd expect the LT4 and LT1 longevity to be about the same, as the pluses and minuses would probably just cancel out to a wash.

104,000 on the LT4, 173,000 on L98 Mobil 1 in both and change every time the oil live monitor tells me so or in the fall when the cars are put away for the winter months. 3k mile oil changes are for conventional oils, I believe Mobil 1 reccommends every 8-10k under normal conditions or every 6 months.

I had a hair under 100k when I sold my GS. I was changing the oil every 5-6k. I have talked to several Corvette shops about the longevity of the LT-4's, they all told me that 100k was barely broken in for an LT-4. 250K plus is not unusual for that motor.

72,000 on my 96 LT4 and 165,000 on wifes 94 LT1 TA both Mobil 1 5/30 every 4000 miles and I use the Mobil 1 or K&N oil filter. I know I could run the Mobil 1 longer but when it turns a dark brown, see ya. You can look inside my valve cover on the LT4 and the needle bearing rocker arm and inside the head is still clean looking and silver.

145k miles on my daily driver which I bought with 38k miles in 99.

Minor repairs at failure include; water pump at 65k, Radiator at 85k (end-tank rubber gasket leak), Radiator Fan Motor at 90k, Battery at 80k (replaced with Sears Diehard and replaced again under warranty at 122k), starter motor at 110k and driver-side window alignment bracket at 90k.

Wear and tear repairs include; replacing the clutch twice (at 90k and at 132k with OEM), 2 sets of front brake rotors and pads (at 60k and at 130k), 1 set of rear brake rotors and pads at 60k, drive-shaft U-joints at 80k, plugs and belt at 90k, front suspension ball joints at 130k, front and rear sway bar bushings at 130k and plug wires at 135k.

Major repair more recently; internal engine tapping sound at 135k that became progressively louder. Figured it may be a lifter.... Ordered a GM HOT cam, lifters and all new parts (water pump, opti, cam sprockets and chain, front cover etc.) that would be touched during cam replacement. At tear-down the failure turned out to be the #5 exhaust valve lifter roller and cam lobe. Did all the work myself in my garage over X-Mas vacation as the dealer quoted $3200 for the job.

The new cam really woke up the engine (after a PCM reflash) and I plan to drive it a lot longer than I previously intended to - love the C6 but can't really justify the new car payment.

The driver side seat and clutch-pedal bushing are overdue for replacement and the front-cap paint has seen a few too many bugs and stones....

My previous vette was an '89 6-speed that I had from 55k to 135k miles. The only failure was that the A/C compressor froze at 80k. Never needed to replace the clutch or tear into the engine.....

Three years and 3,000 miles, you will have a Long time. I drive mine to work every day now. I figure the way fuel is going up I better enjoy it while I still can :)

Just turned over 100k and still drive it to the redline more often than not. No worries with its reliability.

ooopppps

right church....wrong pew

Mileage!!

I have a '93, 40th Ruby Red of course!! 127,200 runs great!!!! Change oil every 3000.

I just got my baby this past summer. Drove it East from AZ. I picked it up @ 26K + now @ 29K+. Did 1 oil change, the oil it took to get me home, and then I will do it once a year as recommended. I do have another Vette that I barely drive and it kills me to think of dropping the Syn oil at only 10 miles!!!, because it is a year old. The LT4's do seem to have a lot of power in there!

212K and still smokin' the tires !!!

91,000+ and runs better than new!

SAVE THE :w

Well, mine just passed 50K. I was planning on getting a C6 Z06 when I wore this one out but judging from some of the posts here, that might be a while...;)
