39,700 miles, so still a ways to go to hit 100k. I change the oil every fall before storage with Mobil 1 10-30 (not 5-30). All runs and sounds like new, fingers crossed, after 6 years ownership. Fluid changes, serpentine belt, front brake pads and a new battery, that's it. Average about 2600 miles yearly over 7 months of use. Starting to think about new tires. I really enjoy the LT4.

RG: Beautiful CE. Nice engine compartment too. Mine's dead stock like this as well. If you're new to your CE, you might read all of the posts from LT4Man. He has a nice CE coupe and is a walking reservoir of experience with this model. Very knowledgeable.

Regards,

......uh, if you're going to replace those fronts, how about if I send you my FedEx account number and address?

That's a good eye you've got!.......The picture is two years old actually, but the engine compartment looks the same, however the tires don't unfortunately.

I think I had an LT1 that looked as good as yours. When it was NEW!!!

How do you keep it looking like that?

Well lt4 man, I think it's due to preferred fair weather driving and those occassional rainy days in the garage rockin with the radio and wiping with a damp cloth and a dry towel.

My LT4 has 220,000 miles on it. I have use the 15,000 mile mobil 1 last couple of years. I change oil less often than 15,000 when I'm using that oil, or next time I get a chance if I am using the 7500 mile oil. I have gone through 2 catalytic converters so far, and am NOT able to find an aftermarket bolt on, or even one that looks like it could be welded into the space. Got my last set off of ebay.

Wow.

BTW I do my oil changes myself and switched to Royal Purple a couple oil changes back. I doubt I'll ever be going back to Mobil 1. The informal 'research' I've done has me convinced that RP's a better oil, and besides my LT4 seems to run better on it. FWIW :beer

Randon Technology makes a Left and Right specific cats for a 96 LT4. They are bolt on direct stock replacements. Very expensive and you have to order them, I think they still make them, as the price was so high. I have just Not replaced my stock cats yet. They have 92,000 on them and it just passed Texas Stae inspection:) no " Rotten Egg Smell" yet. I also was looking at the smaller " Bullet Style Cats" and have a custom pipes and bolt on flanges " Made" for my 96 LT4, still not cheep. So I still have " Stock length bolt on flanges so I can use a straight thru pipe for the Track:) another custom made piece..... Hope this helps.

Louis:

Thanks for the help. I checked the Random Technology website and they do no have a version that clearly is for the 1996 LT4. The dealer wants $755 just for the left side, and they don't even sell the right side any more.

Ouch....I am going purchase the " Bullet" style cats and have a muffler shop cut off my flanges from my GM cats and weld them on a hand made pipe with the Bullet cats in the center so I can still unbolt them. There are several companies that make the small style cats that wil pass State inspection. I did this to our LT1 Trans Am several years ago. I think it was Karsounds that made the Cat for a F-Body and it was only $200.00. The GM was $700.00 :mad

177,285 on my '96 LT4 CE. I'm the second owner, I've owned it since "98 and I put 120,000 of those miles on it. I like to drive...what can I say! The "Silver Bullet" still runs great (19 mpg), although it does leak a little oil but nothing serious.

Its going to be while before I break into the 100k mile club. I only have 30k miles on mine.:D

My LT1 has 103,000+ miles

My LT4 has 70,000+ miles

I change the oil every 7,500 miles

My DD has 160, 500 miles and I change the oil every 10,000 miles

All cars use Mobil 1 10W30
