Folks,

Start marking your calendars now.... :upthumbs

A very unique Cultural, Automotive, Design, Art, and Networking event is being planned for October 2008 which will honor the works of Callaway's long time Automotive Designer, Paul Deutchsman.

http://www.artandtheautomobile.com/index.html

This event will be quite a unique venue featuring your cars mixed in with beautiful backdrops and a unique opportunity to get your cars photographed by world renowned automotive photographers like Jesse Alexander. Besides the car show, there will be a car rally at a nearby track and a photography rally (contest for best pictures of Deutschman designed cars in this wonderful setting just over the border with Vermont).

"Art and the Automobile" will be a unique cultural event in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. It will combine diverse activities—a car rally, a photo rally, an automobile show, and an art show—and bring together a diverse group of art and automobile aficionados. It will take place at a time of year when pumpkins are ripe and maple leaves are aflame with colour in this historic rural area. The proceedings will begin on Thursday, October 2, and continue through Sunday, October 5, 2008.

Evoking the spirit of the legendary "Mille Miglia" in Italy, "Art and the Automobile" will enable discerning drivers and creative photographers to explore the rolling Townships landscape, visit impressive heritage sites, and enjoy locally produced food and wine.

I will be coordinating Callaway Owners Group participation with the planner of this high visibility event. Please take a few minutes to visit the website and check out what is being planned.

It is my opinion that this is going to be a unique opportunity to spotlight our cars which are the direct result of the great vision and execution of both Callaway Cars and their styling designer, Paul Deutschman.

I hope we can garner a good showing. I know that a couple of cars from Florida are already excited about being there.

The location is only about 3 hours from Callaway's shop. Since this event will take place in Canada, the planners are also talking about trying to coordinate any border requirements to enable people to get their cars to/from the venue.

I would expect that because of the unique nature of this event that we will possibly see some unique Callaway Cars that do not normally make it to other events. Additionally, because of the nature of the event I am hopefull that we are able to get a large turnout (50+ cars?).

It would be great to see if we can get a modern Speedster evolution photograph, Unique cars like the SuperSpeedster, Sledgehammer, Inky Blue C12, Callaway Race Cars. How about C16's at speed? And of course... lots of Callaways!

Who will consider attending a unique event like this??? (I definitely am)

Please send me any questions which you may have but stay tuned here and on the event website as more news comes on this awesome reunion of sorts.

Have a Great Thanksgiving Celebration!

:cool

Looks like a classy event....perfect time of year too. Count me in Luigi with at least one car.

I will add it to my list of events to attend :cool

Luigi, I appreciate you taking the lead on this event. Photography and Callaways, what else could one ask for???

Thanks!

Since it's a year from now (basically) I might be able to make it. I've never been out of the US though, muchless that far north so who knows. :ugh

Probably a great opportunity to see some C8s! 50 cars though? That's either very optimistic or UNREAL! WOW.

I think I saw one of these on ebay the other day, but it wasn't called this:
http://www.deutschmandesign.com/english/it.htm I didn't know he designed it.

Folks,

While at the LA Auto Show I talked to Reeves about this event and he is as excited about it as I and mentioned that they "Callaway Cars" are going to be supporting it.

Expect to see more event info posted here and at the event's website http://www.artandtheautomobile.com/index.html but definitely mark your calendars now.

I will work with our fearless leader (Chris) to also draft a mailer for those Callaway Owners who do not visit our forum on a regular basis.

I hope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday next week.

I will put it on my calendar for 2008. We will all have to go to the BALLET while we are there I heard it is to die for.

When guys come mincing out in tights---I don't know.

I guess I'm a cultural Neanderthal.

This event is going to be several notches up on the class scale so even if it were the traditional type of ballet, count me in. Lets show some class.

After an event conference call this afternon with Luigi and the Event Chairman, it is clear that this will be so much more than just another car show :cool

In the spirit of Mille Miglia, this will be a true town-centered auto and art event with many cultural aspects involved :cool

Please consider this event for 2008 - details will be added to the EVENTS tab at the COG site and expect a show brochure in the coming month :w

Folks who plan on attending this: Please consider, is if you have not lined up your passport for the October event in Canada, I urge you to plan ahead, as it can take a few months to get the paperwork finalized for foreign travels :W

The event details will be updated in the EVENTS TAB at the Callaway Owners Group website - check them out!!! :w

Folks.... I wanted to provide the group with a brief update on the planning for this show and will try to provide monthly updates so that you can plan to attend and be part of it. I think this is probably going to be the most significant Callaway gathering that we have participated in to date since the COG was formed. Just as a reminder, the website for this event is http://www.artandtheautomobile.com, please take a look at it as changes are ongoing.

In terms of timing, October 2-5 will be a time of the year when the leaves turn and are at their brightest, something that I have only experienced a couple of times in my life.

The event is planned to be a combination of:
- a car show
- a car rally intertwined with and photo rally though the picturesque villages in the area
- an art show
- fine dining
- a tribute to the design work of Paul Deutschman.

It is being planned as a complete package so that accommodations, food, internal transportation, and even car care (yes your car will look its best for the photographers) is all inclusive.

As for the tentative schedule of events:
Thursday - Oct 2

Arrival. Meet and Greet, Dinner with Owners and VIP guests. This is for the "core group" of 100-150 ppl - those involved in the photo rally, rally participants, artists, along with tthe VIPs mentioned. Unveiling of the C16 early to the core group. Go through the art galleries on site and meet renowned photographer, Jesse Alexander and others. Evening entertainment.

Friday - Oct 3

Car and Photo Rally. Drivers paired with Photographers and will rally through several villages of the area stopping for photo opportunities. Rally is limited to 40 cars, max. Followed by Dinner for the core group, Photo expo, review, prizes, and roundtable

Saturday - Oct 4

Car, Art, and Photo Show open to the public. Dinner to share highlights of the event - formal. Drive In Movie event

Sunday - Oct 5

Awards, recognition, luncheon, and a wrap-up. Departures
Additionally rumors are that Callaway will unveil their latest C16 there and will be there to showcase and possibly test drive their products. I understand that Audi of Canada has also signed up as an event sponsor and will have the R8 there and possibly offer test drives as well. This event is already being promoted in various publications including Photo Life, others to follow.

For owners bringing their cars in addition to being part of this great celebration to honor Callaway's Designer, Paul Deutschman, there will be some great high quality take away gifts which I am sworn to secrecy and cannot divulge, plus an event book and I would hope that some of the photographers in the Photo Rally provide us with professional shots in the prettiest of places. Not to mention the opportunity to get a picture of both Reeves and Paul with you next to your car.

A mailer should be sent within the next month to customers of Callaway Cars. Make sure you are on their mailing list. Additionally, we will be sending an e-mail PDF mailer to COG members on record.

As more concrete information becomes available I will be passing it on. In the meantime, mark your calendars and make sure you have your passport in order.

Best Regards,

Luigi
:cool

Luigi, thanks for the update!!! :w

Additionally, beyond the initial portion of this event, there will be some track time available during the week that follows at a nearby track ( Calabogie Motorsports Park )with Callaway Cars participating in some laps as well :lou

The Thurs-Sun portion of this event will be packaged for participants, in an all-inclusive manner. As Luigi pointed out, even the cars will be detailed overnight :cool

Sworn to secrecy, the take-aways will be memorable for sure and only offered to participants of this once-in-a-lifetime event, 20+ years in the making :upthumbs

Art and the Automobile

Participants will be treated to a first class event, with many unique “take-aways” for those registered!!!

Folks, this is one of the deals of the event that is being finalized now for the event – here is more:

  • The rally will be limited to a few dozen vehcles. Callaway vehicles will play an important role in the rally and will be kept together for maximum visual impact.
  • Throughout the event, a photo-rally will be happening. Highlights of this will be showcased in a memorable dinner and if all goes as planned, a book will be given to the participants photo-documenting the event as a keepsake.
  • Lodging as of now, is in the process of being finalized. It will range from clean motels to a five-star destination. You will choose your own places, and there may be cottages available on the lake – a great deal if you and anther couple are going, sharing the cost and getting a premier place to stay!
  • Callaway Cars will be there now only as a sponsor, but to support the show. This is looking to be A BIG DEAL!!!!!! If you stay through the week, in the early part of the week, Callaway Cars (and possibly other vehicles) will have use of the Calabogie Motorsports Park.
  • For the core group of participants registered in the rally and show along with the artists and such, the meals each day will be included. Ranging from a bountiful breakfast to exquisite dinners, it has been said you will not go hungry!!!

Other details being looked at are:
  • Trucking/transportation details – a preferred trucking company to make your delivery of your Callaway, worry-free.
  • A commissioned glass sculpture available to attendees of a Callaway. Very limited. Very NICE!!

For those considering attending this event, I cannot stress this part enough - plan early, book early, and visit the website www.artandtheautomobile.com often - It is being updated every few days, with some new stuff added this week ;)

...just a quick update:

...more updates, coming soon :cool

Discussing the event again today with Turbo Luigi and the Event Manager, we are CLOSE to releasing the registration details on this once-in-a-lifetime event :upthumbs

This past week, working with Callaway Cars, we oulined much of the schedule for this three-day automobile rally and show that will feature the automobiles of Paul Deutschman, honoring his work an designs - many of which, are Callaways! :cool

You will be getting an email from the Callaway Owners Group and/or Callaway Cars that will detail the event and provide you on how to register for the show. :cool Look for this in the next week or so... :w

March 8 Update

In our last event planning call, we pointed out that some attendees may not be interested in doing the Rally but would prefer to just Show their cars at the event. The Rally is one of the core components of the event and will work in conjuction with the scenic sites and Photography aspects of the show. An alternative to the Rally however is being addressed. Some exciting innovative and creative ideas have been proposed for those not participating in the Rally, and more details will soon be forthcoming.

The other area that is being addressed concerns the cost of car transportation to the event. Given the current and expected high costs of fuel, we will be working with a major carrier and co-sponsor to offer transport at no profit in order to ensure that the costs of vehicle transport to/from the event are minimized. As a participant from far away (Florida), I will be concerned and looking out to make sure that the costs to bring our cars to the show are as low as possible.

To do this we need to start gathering some information.
- Who is participating in this event?
- What City/State are you coming from?

Feel free to reply publicly to this thread, send a PM, or e-mail us at
landcemails.jpg

Additionally as was previously mentioned, Audi Canada has also signed up as an event sponsor and will provide some demo rides. Perhaps even some demo rides of the R8.
:lou

Art and the Automobile is shaping up to be one fun filled, exciting, creative, and picturesque show. I hope to see everyone and their cars there.

Event Brochures will soon be mailed out to Callaway Owners on record, Web PDF brochures will be e-mailed to COG owners, and news of the event in magazines.

Plan ahead and please share your thoughts with us on this unique event.

Have a Great Weekend! :upthumbs

-Luigi
:cool

I will be there . Just need to know what the cost of the event will be. I will probably drive there but will transport if the price is right.
