...I saw this and thought it was interesting. We have heard that the new supercharger is coming and it looks like Callaway Cars is right on top of its development :cool
The 09 Cadillac CTS-V will have the new 6th Gen Eaton Supercharger on its LS3. Why should anyone get the old 5th Gen from Callaway instead of waiting for the new 6th Gen that can be purchased right from GM and have a GM warranty? It should be available this year. Callaway says they will also be introducing the new 6th Gen sometime in late 09. If Chevy and Cadillac are both useing the new 6th Gen Eaton, does that mean Callaway is out?
Callaway Cars said:I'm not sure why you would ask whether Callaway should be considered to be "out". GM is introducing the 6th Gen TVS in 2009 models: the same time frame as Callaway. We still have to produce tooling, we have to conduct testing and validation, including calibration development and emissions compliance work, so introduction of the Callaway TVS kits will probably occur later than the introduction of the CTS-V and ZR1, but I don't know where you might have heard "late '09". Callaway Cars is deeply committed to the supercharger as the proper solution to generate high horsepower levels in a very civilized manner, at high value to the owner, as demonstrated by the supercharged Callaway Corvette and C16's.
In 2009, we'll have kits that are as complete as the current Magnacharger kits, with everything you need to perform the installation, including flawless calibration. The disadvantage to the GM parts is that you'll have to figure out how to make them work. We'll do the engineering for our TVS kits, so you won't have to. The kits will also come with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, just like current Magnachargers.
Given that we have to produce tooling and testing and validation has to be performed, including calibration development and emissions compliance work, we're projecting our introduction during 2009, but we don't think it will be late 2009. We need to be ready with TVS for the 2009 model year Callaway Corvette and C16.
