I bought a complete set of wheels with GS2's so now I have two sets including the Supercars my Z51 came equipped with and thus far have not experienced the tire slip I had with the Supercars which may slip when surface temp is mid 40's or lower and you get on the gas. really though it never proved to be serious, as soon as the slip was encountered letting off the gas caused immediate hookup if in fact they didn't immediately hook up by themselves. Never even came close to being a problem but it was unsettling the first couple times. Anybody have experience with both tires? I have not put that many miles on the GS2's but they seem to be a better choice for everyday driving, especially here in Minnesota were it can get very cold in fall.

Also anyone understand how not resetting the TPMS affects the active handling on a newer C6? It is my understanding they have changed the way it is programmed from earlier years.

The SuperCar tires are definitely 'summer' tires. I noticed the same thing on my CTS-V which came with SuperCar tires. It now has F1 D3's on it. In the winter, unless I heated the SC tires up, they were easy to break loose.

There are probably better cold weather tires available other than the GS2 or the D3 but they do pretty well all year round.

I drove my '06 (GS2 equipped) in the snow here in OK without any problem the first winter I had it. The CTS-V had SuperCars on it and I refused to get it out in the snow or rain for that matter.

Are those GY F1 GS-D3 RunFlats? If so, how do you like them?

Yes.
They are 255/45/18 D3 EMT marked as "Mercedes Overload" and made in Europe. The standard CTS-V tire is 245/45/18 on the first generation and I didn't care for any of the available tires in that size that were run-flat and I didn't want to give up run-flat capability. I found the D3 in run-flat one size bigger on the Goodyear website and ordered them.
They have been on the CTS-V for 3 years now and still have plenty of tread left. My first 2 sets of SuperCar tires didn't last a year on the "V". Ouch!
All my cars are run-flat equipped so I don't have any recent experience with 'regular' tires on any of them. That said, I'm pretty happy with them. The D3 is nearly as good in the dry as the SuperCar and tons better in the rain - and it lasts at least 3 times longer. I've even driven the "V" on ice with the D3's and it got me home - not fun but I made it!.

Cool! Appreciate the reply.

According to the Tire Rack, the GS-D3 RunOnFlat sized for the Vette's rear tires are OEM on the Ferrari F430 Coupe! They should be fine for the Vette. :D

I'm looking for tires that work better in the rain and last a little longer. I'm going to give these a try when my Supercar's need to be replaced.

Klaus, sent you a PM.
