OK guys, any day now now my new Melrose Exhaust will be here and I will be installing it soon after the return of my vacation (July 6th). I will also install Borla Mufflers. Can anybody tell me what I have to look forward too? I will let everybody know how it goes. I also plan on having another Rear Wheel Horsepower Check. My current horsepower is 236 (RWHP).

It's not stated if that 236 at the wheels is uncorrected, std. corrected or SAE corrected but, figuring the .18 correction that's typical of C4 manual or the .22 correction typical of C4 autos that either about 278 at the flywheel or 302 at the flexplate.

It's hard to say what you'll end up with after putting on your exhaust uless we know what cat converter you're using.

If we figure the stock cat with the low restriction exhaust, I'd say 5 more hp at best, so you'll be just short of 285 f you have the Doug Nash and just short of 305 with the auto.

I hope your wrong about the 5 horsepower.
The 236 RWHP is actual uncorrected.
The Melrose exhaust are Long Tube Headers, X-pipe, and free flowing converters. I hope I get more then 5 horsepower but the dyno (ego-buster) doesn't lie. I paid $1,400 for the Headers to the mufflers and $450 for the Borla mufflers. I hope I get at least 30 extra ponies at the rear wheels. Tell me the truth Hib, what can I expect?

Exhaust Installed

OK guys and gals, the new Melrose exhaust system is in.
It was an all day job but it sounds great and feels like it pulls good at the top end. The system consists of Long Tue Headers, X-Pipe, High Flow Converters and I purchased and installed Borla Mufflers. When I have a chance, I will put it on the Dyno and hope I gained around 30 rwhp. I will let all of you know the Dyno figures.:thumb

Aside from a dyno test... what do you think so far?

Was it what you hoped for- sound and installation?

The install would have went better if we fit tested the pipe on the garage floor. One of the Headers wouldn't accept the mating pipe because I believe the Ceramic coating was a little thick so we had to sand some off.
The directions were good but I would add some info that wasn't included. If anybody is interested in more details on the install, I will be happy to include it in a reply. I don't know if power was added but it does feel like it. It sounds great. There is some noise in the cockpit but you have to expect some noise because the headers dump out right under butt. It feels real good on top end like it is still pulling strong. The stock exhaust seemed like the motor topped out too soon.
I am overall satisfied with the install and sound.
