Would hooking up your fuel lines backwards (feed to return - return to feed) kill the pressure regulator? I did this then I got a way over rich condition it felt like it was having a major misfire after that. I am pretty sure It killed the regulator.

Any and all comments are appreciated.

Thanks

I think the 2 lines are different size. You sure they're backwards? Exactly what work did you do?

I think the 2 lines are different size.

Early cars had 16 mm in /14mm out .Later cars both are 16mm

Personally I can't see it affecting reg. At worst you have pump pressure trying to lift the seal off the seat at the same pressure it is applied to the diaphram when it is lifted normally?

I run -6 line and fittings to both lines and got them mixed up. I just put in a new engine and this was the initial start up it would not run properly and felt like a massive misfire. I pulled the pluges and the 2-4-6-8 side were way black and wet with fuel it also smelled way over rich. I checked spark on each cyl and it was good. all sensors were attached too. so I am thinking the reg is the problem.

What year we working on??What Engine we Working on??
I'm thinking you have a Electronic Problem!! Fuel Pressure Regulator would effect both banks of the engine NOT just the right bank!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Disconnect both, confirm feed and return lines, reconnect with a pressure guage, and check static pressure.

The guage will confirm pressure, FPR function, injector sealing - ALL good things to know with a new twister up front UH HUH!!!

5.7 tpi speed density (1991) I checked all the injectors with noid light and they were all working and had spark at each plug.

I would start there ,as stated if reg was bad you would have fueling problems on all cyl.
As one bank is out I would start by checking the injector fuses followed by a noid light to see if the injectors are firing. The computer has drivers for each injector bank seperate
