you change th ring gear to 3:75..
then..
you put in a 396 short block.....http://www.gmhightechperformance.co...t1_short_block_engine_buyers_guide/index.html
or a 383 ( i just like the sound of it...396 )
cast iron
Xpipe
mufflers...
stock
with this gear and an auto
top speed would 150mph @ 5000rpm..
but i dare say it would be there in under 20 seconds.
and look stock.....
ready on the right

ready on the left

ready on the firing line.
.
commence fire

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;..........:lou.!!.:lou........;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Might have clearance problems with a big block 396. The 383 will outrun it anyhow.

How about just start with a stock C4 ZR-1 and your there. They're dirt cheap right now.

heres an even better one go to scott sharoffs site and put in one of his stroker small blk 454s put headers on her with a small cam for a stk type idle . motor cost 9200 del. a buddy did this with a 3.54 gear and 2200 stall conveter .the car on drag radials runs 1150-80s at 121mph.she still gets 22mpg on the freeway. to hear her idle you would swear it was just a 350 with headers . his car is too much fun to cruize in .:D

i dont think the Z can keep up with a stroker with gears..
and even a stock 300 horse will be amazing with those gears..
it should well exceed factory performance specs which include 1/4 mile times in the low 15's at just over 100mph..
but thats also buildable for well under 15,000.....bucks that is...
and have a decent car for a daily driver.

Wow...I never thought of this. It's kind of like "Silent but deadly" because everyone sees stock, but it is oh so much more. Has anybody done this?

sweet..:cool

I am getting the 396 - 520 HP package, and going w/ 3.73 gears.

azr1 might surprise you look at the nile an hr in my vids 119.85 and the da that night was 2700ft. these cars are deadly from a roll.not saying stroker small blk doesnt make a ton of power. but almost 120 in the quarter with just headers exhaust and 410 gears aint to shabby. i would really sk out the sharoff motor .it has all the good pieces and has been building killer motors for 30 yrs

Street Thunder Magazine did an LT1 396 build it made 550HP!!! Do an internet search to find it. I saved it as a PDF.

With 4.10 gears and such, folks we are looking at mid 11's or better IF you can get it to hook up...:rotfl

thats the one thing thats tought to do in a c4 especially with a manual trans. when you do hook things break .wish they had a set up for a c4 that they do for the c3

im really going to the mild side of this one..13's is fast on the street.., maybe high to mid 12's:cool
so im thinking a mild short block with my top end, refreshed of course...
that way it still looks bone stock with the hood open...right down to the cast iron manifolds....
except with 400 maybe 425 hp, totaly normal idle and exhaust sound, with one big difference,

I don't know about the axles but the early 6 speeds are good for 450 hp. and the dana 44 will take more.

The early 6 speeds ZF are better than the later ZF's that where built in the USA. My Rubie has a German ZF and they changed sometime in 93 to USA built units. I don't know how much torque the ZF will take but the Dana 44 will handle just about anything you throw at it under probley 600 ft-lbs.

Its torque that kills drive trains not horsepower. For example the TKO500 is rated at withstanding 500 ft-lbs of torque the TKO600 well 600ft-lbs of torque.

so what do you know about the dana 36.?
am i being unreasonable in thinking it will handle the 400+ ft lbs of a stroker..?
