I'll try to make this a short story but I'd like to help this guy out.

Said he has a 2001 Z06 .... knew the right numbers for HP and tire size and all .... when he spotted my stock 2000 we started BS'ing.

He commented on my new (old) HRE wheels and I told him about the pain I just went through with the sensors for the air pressure in the "old school HRE's".

He said his Z does .... not .... come with the air pressure readout on the dash! ;squint:

Now also indicated that he bought it from our local GM dealer in town here and he is maintaining a warranty ... but ... they told him that the Z with the larger tires and high performance didn't have the air pressure readout "and that was why I should carry an air compressor (though he has GoodYear runflats anyway.

Now, I don't know (like youse guys) .... Vettes, much less ZEE Vettes, but this doesn't sound right.

I should probably MMOB .... but he was such a nice young guy that I would hate to see him given a load of baloney by the dealer since he spent pretty much what sounds like well over book for a low mile car. Said the sales guy told him that his windshield was thinner too (for weight saving).

He seemed to know too much to be BS'ing but it would be ..... heck .... it would be soooooo easy to yank my chain.

Did the 01 Z cars not have pressure sensors? If the car is still "in warranty" .... or did they just not want to replace the sensors ... he said this doesn't even come up ...... he gets oil pressure and temp and all of the other stuff. Do you think the dealer "zapped" out the air function?

Well, there are 2 different windshields,1 for HUD,1 for No HUD!!:thumbAs far as weight difference,I'd doubt it would be more than a half gram for the coating for the HUD!!:L As far as the Tire Monitors,I read somewhere that you can put tire sensors on a Z06 and then have a Dealer turn them on! But I've not tried it,perhaps C4C5Specialist knows the answer!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Paul,Where the heck are you??:confused

:D

Z cars did not come with TPMS. Not sure if you can add it either.

I Agree, the Z06 did not come with TPMs and yes it can be added. The Z06 came with a tire repair kit in the right side well in the trunk, a can of sealent and a compressor. The reciever for the TPM is the same one that gets the key fob signal. The messages would need to be turned on with a Tech 2.

The Z06 front and rear glass is supposed to be 33% thinner than the coupe as a weight savings.

Thanks ..... glad to hear he didn't get burned by the dealer! :)

Whooda' thought the thing had thinner glass .... :duh
