I may have found a great deal on a 383 as well and giving it some thought. I've already rebuilt the top half of my tired old 350 with vortec heads, edelbrock vortec intake and a carter 625 cfm carb. My gas mileage is horrible, so I just picked up a mustang T5 tranny with overdrive yesterday to...
There are some specialty lubes that I read about. Check Wilcox Corvette's web site. He may have something posted. I just replaced my speedo cable and used graphite powder that you can buy at the hardware store. I poured it into the cable housing and worked the inner cable back and fourth to...
I performed this repair about 10 yrs ago, so my memory may be off. The low fuel light should have a small circuit board. On the back side are some soldered joints. The split in the solder was very small and almost not noticeable. I think I used a continuity tester to check the solder and that's...
Mine did not work, but upon closer inspection I discovered that it was a simple break in the solder. I got out my trusty radioshack $6.00 solder kit and fixed it.
No I did not have to cut my floorboard, however, your earlier model year may require something different. I reused my C3 tracks and shimmed the seats with washers. I have detailed pics of the seat track modification I can email you. I purchased the seats from a member of another forum for...
The seatbelts are from a 95 Trans Am. I hope to have them redone in the future to better match the color of the seats and interior. As for the height, it rest on my shoulder and has never bothered me.
I have read and seen pics of others installing C4 seats without any issues. C5 seats are becoming more popular and affordable. Here is a pic of C5 seats from a 98 in my vette.
It's been years since I have pulled the gauge cluster. I hope my memory is accurate. Just some screws that hold the cluster in. The hardest part is getting the cable removed from the backside of the speedometer. You have to reach up from the backside of the gauge cluster while laying on the...
Before you go and order a replacement part, I would suggest checking your circuit board. It's really simple. Use a continuity tester and check that all of the circuits are intact... no broken copper. Since you own a vette you are going to need to learn to work on electrical anyways.
My tack...
You may be able to get away with 9.5" and 265 series tires in the rear without offset trailing arms but I don't think you can get 265 series tires up front. My 255 series tires hit my frame at wheel lock and the later C3s had more clearance in the wheel wells. I just installed 17" C5 wheels and...
