And proud of it!!!
I bet you can't rub two pennies together and make a nickle :) And I bet your wallet doesn't squeak like mine either :D
A six pack it is :beer
I wouldn't wager more than a beer on events a year apart. Too many variables (wind, temp, car condition, tires, humidity, etc) But I would be curious to see the results.
In my case I saw the following w/4.10s: I would loose traction in 3rd gear frequently when "rolling on the throttle" as I...
It is true I have never had dealings with him, I'm sure he's a respectable guy. My statement still stands, though. My personal experience with 4.10s has all been negative as far as real-world performance is concerned. I wish there had been a nay-sayer or two on the net when I was looking to...
That would be really cool, but my car is so modified that it wouldn't be a good experiment.
What I would like to see is two sets of a four-way race. The 1st set would be a bone stock ZR-1 vs a "4.10 gear as only mod" vs a plenum / inj. housing ported ZR-1 vs a header / exhaust ZR-1 on a...
I disagree. First of all they do not give you 18% more torque through the entire power curve. With 4.10s you shift sooner, as soon as you shift the car with stock gears has the torque advantage (it's still in the lower gear).
As for times my car with 4.10s was slower both 0-60 and 1/4 mile as...
I washed my motor over the weekend and killed my starter doh!). I didn't think I had gotten much water down there. At any rate, I had my spare starter rebuild and last night I went about changing it out and drilling the auxilliary drain in my block. Took just over 1.5 hours.
I took pictures...
Update on the lightweight battery:
The 13# 18 amp battery starts the car fine and will work the accessories with the power off. I have tried rolling up the windows, moving the seat forward, and moving it back (about 4" ea way) without the engine running; but only one item at a time. The...
Picture
Here's a picture of the battery installed. I will be driving the car next week as a daily driver to see how it does (unless it rains).

I found a local source for the batteries and I plan on selling this setup as a turn key kit in the future...
While installing my stainless works headers last weekend I noticed a couple of things that would be nice to have for installation - namely extension cords for the O2 sensors and a dipstick tube that could be anchored at the top with a bolt that was installable with the headers.
Off to pepboy's...
Move to a non-communist state?
Seriously, I would go buy one of those big-rig style air horns and hook it up for the test. Afterwards I'd put the normal horn back on (maybe :))
Nope, not yet. I will be replacing my pilot bearing this weekend and installing headers and an X pipe. After I get that stuff done I will be driving it again.
I plan to go to another DE event in late July (at Texas World Speedway). Figure mid-90's to over 100 ambient plus pounding on the...
I got the battery installed. I had to do a little custom fab of a bracket and some posts but I was able to put it in the factory location w/o making any permenant modifications. (I don't have pics yet). I used the 13# 18amp battery; it seems to start the car fine. My pilot bushing is sticking...
I read that too. But I also noticed that our stock battery is located right next to a "gill" vent. I don't think it will get any hotter there than in my interior on a hot summer day.
I figure that for $40 I'll try it in the stock location first and if that doesn't work I'll buy another one...
I just ordered a PS12180 (powersonic 12v 18ah) for $39.29 shipped ($28.95 before shipping) from www.batteryconnection.com
It does not have the rugged case that the hawker does (but it does pass vibration testing), nor does it have normal car style terminals. The way I plan to mount it...
