Motortrend article testing the then new '93 LT1 w/ Z07 package and 93 ZR-1 against various other cars. Let's hear everyones thoughts. http://sportmachines.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Motor-Trend-6-93.pdf
Seems to be a recurring theme within GM and not just with the C4 the LS7 stayed at 505 for its run. And the C7 is now 4 years old and is stuck at 465, 650 with the expection of the ZR1 which just came out. I for one thought the Grand Sport should have 525 to set a medium between the Z51 and Z06...
The LT1 does seem like it was a hold over until the C5 came out. It premiered with a bang in '92 and went out with a whimper in '96 is what everyone tells me.
Hear me out the L98 went from "230-245" from 85-91, the LT5 "375-405" from 90-95. But the LT1 stayed at 300 for its entirety apart from a 10 lb-ft of torque jump in 93. Was this to not further nip at the ZR-1 heels? If the LT1 had been upgraded to say 325-335 hp would that mean the LT4 of 96...
About damn time we got a hardcore track version of a Vette. Before all "special edition" Vettes got colored seatbelts and some decals. Meanwhile Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc make their special edition cars lighter, louder, more power. It's a damn shame it took this long.
The Stingray, Grand Sport, and Z06 has been sitting at 460hp, 650hp for 4 years now and the ZR1 will soon be eclipsed as well. With it's Competitors like Porsche and other exotics putting out more power each year when will GM do the same. Or is GM stubborn or just lazy?
With the introduction of the LT1 in '92 ZR-1 sales dipped by 1,542. So why did the '93-'95 ZR-1 sales not jump back despite having 20-30 more hp over the '90-'92 ZR-1?
Would a '92-95 LT1 with FX3, Z07, G92 options and a '96 LT4 with F45, G92, Z51 options better handling than a '90- '95 ZR-1 due to their lighter weight? Not asking which is faster because we all know that question and no need to cause a fighting match on the forums.
