    2001Charge System Fault

I bought a new 1999 Corvette coupe, build date of 8/1998, which I had ordered from my dealer. The car's build and delivery were delayed by a large GM strike / walkout that started with a dispute involving pickup trucks. The Corvette plant shut down. I still have newspaper articles in my...

    Radiator Hose Collapse

A defective radiator cap (overflow jug cap on the C5) will cause the upper radiator hose to collapse as the engine cools.

Senator Reynolds files bill naming the Corvette as the official state sports car

I am a long-time Corvette owner and "nut". I have visited the Bowling Green Assembly Plant and National Corvette Museum several times. I live in a state that adjoins Kentucky and I travel and vacation in Kentucky often. Having said that - this is a classic example of what is wrong with...

    sport seat bolster plastic paddles

The manufacturer of the C5 sport seats was the Lear Corporation. I have no suggestions for the part - other than to try to purchase a used seat and salvage the part. I ordered / have the sport seats in my C5 - I always thought the quality was poor, especially for extra-cost seats. Good luck.

    Proper polish for the ZR1

After reading your post, last week I went to the C-Magic Wax web site. They have a wax / detail wax combo pack on sale, but I could not determine the size of the bottles from the web site. I used the "contact us" link to send a question to the company about the size of the bottles. I never...

Question: How do I turn off twighlight sentinal?

The owner's manual for my 1999 C5 has specific instructions for the twilight sentinel feature / option, and how to turn it on or off. Did you check your owner's manual?

    Aaaaaarrgghhhh

The car will never be right - all because of the negligence of several dealer employees. You should contact an attorney - it will probably be a long process, but I would not accept a repair of the front end without replacement of the fascia or the dealer buying the car. It is your choice -...

    High pitched whine

Does the sound get louder as the fuel level drops below one-half? I noticed my fuel pump whine was much louder when the fuel level gets between one-half and one-quarter. I now never let the fuel level get below one-half. Good luck.

Waiting over 3 mo. for Z06 windshield molding

It is a downward spiral. GM can't sell parts it does not have and the suppliers won't make the parts for GM to sell. GM dealers can't sell the part they can't get (or install it). No one makes a sale (and a profit). Customers end up irritated and frustrated. Customers quit buying GM parts...

Waiting over 3 mo. for Z06 windshield molding

Today I attempted to order the rear lift-off panel weatherstrip (part #10329158) for my 1999 C5 coupe. The dealer parts department stated it is not available and is on national back-order. The lack of parts for GM vehicles is costing GM business and irritating its customers (like me). Last...

Waiting over 3 mo. for Z06 windshield molding

Recently when I attempted to purchase / order four GM brake rotors at my Chevrolet dealer for my 1999 C5 coupe, I learned all four rotors are on "national back-order". My dealer was able to find the rotors (four separate items / part numbers) at three other dealers, two out-of-town, but said...

    Seat belt locked up

Chevrolet issued a safety recall for the seatbelt systems for the 1997 - 2000 Corvettes. The seatbelts tended to tangle and a plastic insert was developed to prevent the tangling and/or jamming. My 1999 Corvette passenger seatbelt jammed repeatedly, until the recall was performed and the...

    OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DISPLAY

I recently replaced the ambient air temperature sensor on my 1999 C5 coupe. It is very easy. The part number is 10248414 (list $11.94). I purchased the part at my local Chevrolet dealer. The part bag was labeled, "Made in China (mainland)". I'm not sure if this part qualifies my Corvette to...

    Terrible service at GM Dealerships

Getting my Chevrolet and/or Corvette serviced at a Chevrolet dealership is like ordering fast food at the drive-through. When you receive your food - what is the first thing you do? You look in the bag, and IF the order is correct - you breathe a sigh of relief and actually feel a little...
