    Need A/C help in Florida

This is a great post...lots of info about a really poorly performing C3 AC system. I am interested to know your thoughts about the r134-a that has "additives" to help cool better, some claim 18%. Also, the cans are of numerous capacities. I am assuming my 1977 reair manual states 3 pounds of...

Question: Hot Air tru A/C vents

On my '77 the low blower is always on...something to do with the ventilation. You can trace the wire at the blower resistor (under the hood on the heater box) and disconnect the brown wire i(n my case) and it no longer blows all the time.

    Mechanical Tach

The numerals are white, the orange line begins at 5000 and the redline begins at about 5300.

    Mechanical Tach

I bought a lower left hand dash pad with the speedo and tach at a swap meet. The tach is mechanical. Any one know how to tell the year model? I can find no obvious part numbers. The speedo is a 160 mph. What was the last year for mechanical tachs?

    '77 Speedometer

Thanks for the info... It looks like the small black idler gear (rivited to the housing, of course) has damaged teeth. After cleaning and oiling it worked until the bad teeth tried to mesh with the other gear. I'll try and find a speedometer shop in the Houston area. Thanks again.

    '77 Speedometer

I'm looking for repair parts for the speedometer on my '77. The problems are the trip meter doesn't register any mileage (the resets cable works and rolls the trip meter numbers) and during hot weather, the needle will occasionaly begin bouncing around. I replaced the cable and no luck. I have...

    C3 A/C Fan Motor Speed

I found this on Eckler's. I replaced my '77 fan with this setup and got maybe 20% more air. You can actually feel it blowing from the center vent while seated. Good luck. DK "NEW INFO First I just replaced the original motor with a replacement and used the same impeller. I put everything back...

    Hood Clearance

1979toy, is that hood and your setup functional for fresh air to the carb? What were the sources of the parts you used?

    Hood Clearance

I saw a '77 with the "High Rise" hood. It looked like you could get 3"-4" more than stock. Mid America : http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=4.165.3327

    77 A/C Control

Art Jett I'll probably repace it next week. DR Rebuild's said shipping could take a few days. I'll post the results.

    77 A/C Control

Thanks for the replys. Bill75, the '77 is different than the 75 and is only available in good old plastic. Doc Rebuild did have a "Delco" switch so I ordered it.

    77 A/C Control

I replaced the a/c heater control as a unit 1 yr ago. Got it from one of the major Corvette suppliers. It began leaking at the diverter valve on the top of the unit. It wouldn't leak if the selector was on a/c, but you could hear it if on any other position. I pulled the unit out and the leak...

    Car Died ; Strange Happenings

I'll try and get to the plug without pulling the console. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll post the cure if it's not a loose plug.
