Hi My 90 has the same issue...when hot it often has a delayed start rather than an instant on. Has anyone found a reference to this in the FSM? Cheers GAry

    Cooling Fans

Hi The fans are turned on and off at predetermined temps by the ECM and when AC is called for the secondary fans turn on. I don't think the heater core bypass is an issue. Did you use a stock thermostat (195)? Does your temp guage indicate a hot engine.? In a cold climate a 160 thermostat...

    Code 26 SIR

Hi Always a bonus when things work out!! Why GM made the code clearing process so difficult is beyond me. A sequence had to be programmed into the computer to do the job but they didn't have to make it so fussy. A tolerance of a couple of secs would make it much easier. Cheers Gary

    Code 26 SIR

Hi I went through a similar problem with Code 16(LH side sensor) I cleaned and torqued everything and still had no luck turning off the warning INFL REST lamp. I was convinced it was the DERM but once I saw where it was located and the difficulty in getting the right part and also worrying...

    IDLE PROBLEMS --1990 5.7 AUTO

Hi The problem you describe seems to indicate a lean mixture. Power Seat Rail

I'm looking to find a source of replacement parts to rebuild the power seat track in a 90. The issue seems to be that the plastic gears in the seat actuator wear out and start to slip. The one that at seems to be the most common problem is front/back. Replacement seems to be staght forward if...

    Run Rich

Hi Since the check engine light is coming on it's giving you a hint as to the problem. You can get the codes without a code reader by (with the key off )installing a jumper wire on the ALDL connector between pins A and B. When you turn the key to the run position the Service engine light will...

    Spark Plug

Hi Tom The standard plug for your car is AC Delco FR5LS. I have used this plug in my vette and it works just fine. It is quite a bit cheaper than the platinum plug and if originality is an issue it's what the car started with. My understanding for the use of platinum plugs is a longer life in...
