It is just a topper held in place with velcro. This way it is re-useable as I buy new batteries and does not affect the battery warranty.

Found the stickers on eBay. They are very high quality.

Since nobody makes a reproduction Freedom II or a topper, I decided to make my own. Attached are in progress pictures. I used an old JC Penny battery top, filled in the imperfections, painted it and added stickers:

The 1981 L81 engine came with a chrome lid and magnesium ribbed valve covers; the 1980 L48 had the black painted lid and blue painted valve covers.

Still have the factory installed mufflers on mine - they are quiet, but still look like new so will retain them for originality. I'm amazed they have lasted 34 years! And yes, I wish the factory ones were a little louder.

Your numbers are totally incorrect! Haggerty's Guide lists a basket case for $5,200, a Number 1 for $27,300 and 12 to 17 in between. I've seen some in the $30,000 to $33,000 price range.
